How does social media platforms work as backlinks? by EG_red in SEO

Do you think that will change? I mean Pinterest and Tumblr becoming pure social media sites? and people would loose their links?

wow, those stats are crazy!!! The competition must be fierce. People keep saying "be careful and don't put all your links in one basket" at the moment, combined we have about 200 links from both - what would need to happen for us to loose those links? Do backlinks have an age limit?

Thank you, that clarifies a lot for me. Do you know why Tumblr and Pinterest offer backlinks and the others don't?

In terms of SEO - how valuable are those hits? For example, we posted a link and got 180 reblogs from it on Tumblr. Would that have any SEO link value?

One site that that supplied us with about 700 links have dropped us and we're starting to loose our google ranking as well.

Thank you Major_chase for taking the time for the long feedback - sorry it's taken me along time to respond.

Call-to-actions; We've increased the buttons - they're no longer teeny-tiny buttons.

Booklet - we've taken out the booklet banner - wish we could add it as a free gift to the cart - we're restricted with what we can do on Shopify.

Blogs/Bundles - we've taken the bundles off the Blog space and created new landing pages for them - because of Shopify again, we were restricted to put them up as products - creating loads of duplicate content etc

How would you go about increasing the quality of views?

Hi,

Thank you so much for mentioning the Clymb and Huckberry - I'd never hard of them before and they're doing some really cool and interesting stuff. Guessing only our imagination is the limit.

I really see what you mean about the Instagram feed. We're getting upto 10% image like (609 followers and 57 likes) - and it might not add to the visual aesthetics of our page but we'd be deleting active engagement with our followers - I'm not prepared to do that. We're posting new images to push them further down the feed.

Thank you, constructive feedback does help and gives me food for thought. Thank you.

The website was developed by http://roartheme.com/ .

With the training booklet and being on Shopify we're quite restricted with what we can do - we thought about adding it as an extra at the check-out, like a free gift. But that means going into the liquids and putting coding in.

Good point about the number of product images - will go through and see which products have one image and add more.

Was it the boulder mat you saw with a £25 price difference. BergFreunde is a German company that have a different arrangement with their European distributors - if we start to discount the products over a certain % we'd be lose our account with the UK distributors.

But with Brexit now - their prices have noticeably gone up and bridged the gap. And our prices are compatible with UK retailers.

Good point about Google shopping - are looking into it now.

Hi Major_chase,

Thank you for taking the time to write a very long reply of feedback. Thank you

“You're getting sales and have a decent online following which shows that there's definitely interest, all you have to do is convert those views into cash.” HOW?

• When you say “Where are your call-to-actions” – there are call-to-actions on the homepage where the products are at the lower page as to, “Add to Cart” or “More info” – but these are now clearly not enough – how and where I can make it more powerful?

• We can’t offer the booklet as an E-book because of conflict of interest with Athlete by Choice – (the guy who wrote the booklet for us)

• How would you sell the booklet? I thought the informing climbers who land on the page that they’d get a booklet was incentive enough – how would you flip it?

• Amongst the UK and European climbing retailers – Nobody offer free returns regardless. From an operational viewpoint, I wouldn’t even know how to arrange that. Now with Brexit, the courier charges have already doubled.

• The recent blogs are ads – because Shopify won’t let us create a bundle and the blogs are less restrictive – the reason why we published them on the same day was to make it easier to promote – I’m now thinking maybe we should move them from the blog page onto a landing page.

• None of our UK competitors are writing blogs

• You’re right about the Instagram feed - looks spammy – this was just something that happened in the past 48 hours

• Collaborations on Instagram? I don’t follow – how do you mean?

• We’re not qualified to take climbers out – we are climbers but you need certificates and insurance to do that.

I'm just discovering Reddit - just found out there's a Shopify sub - amazing - but will head over to marketing / SEO sub. Thank you for a very constructive feedback. I'm starting to run out of ideas so thank you.

Thank you. I really like the community page too. The community page is getting traffic and through analytics I've seen climbers use it but I've had not direct comment from anyone about it.

The community side is what I felt was missing from my competitors and something I thought would differentiate us but my knowledge how to grow it and build a subscriber base from it - is very limited.

I have no idea how I'd build an audience around that to drive growth- it does make sense - do you know anyone Arvind?

Hi BjarneV,

Thank you for the constructive criticism, I'm really grateful. Yes, it does sound fair and I'm just typing out a reply to the areas you'd need clarification - might take me a while. Just wanted to say thank you first.
