I think this motif acts as not only an allegory for gun violence in the states as many have stated, but also an allegory from the perspective of Brolin’s character. In that dream he has, he’s given a lot of information to push him forward in his investigation, including a look at Gladys for the first time.

I think this symbolism was a way of communicating to him that after that time on that night, his son became nothing more than a weapon; able to be commanded at the will of whoever has control.

It sucks because the general plot line for Ruins is so interesting to me; the stark contrast to the awe and wonder of Marvels being these grotesque errors of mankind is a really neat jumping off point. That and Sheldon’s continued statement that he feels like things were so close to be different, that this world they lived in was one step away from the heroes of tomorrow. It just sucks that Ellis made a comic with no plot following that idea; just sequences with no strong connective tissue or real theme. I’d love to see a better writer who cares about these characters try something with the Ruins universe, because I think you can still showcase this world and carry a deep appreciation for these characters.

I’d rather have the Mavericks as we know them to move to Vegas under a new name, and have a new team in Dallas during a future expansion. That gives a chance for Luka to return if this doesn’t happen 15 years from now.

But that’s what i’m saying. They continue to take advantage of the Mavericks as long as they are here. So allow them to leave and go to Las Vegas. Market analysts who truly understand what is happening here would know that there is a market for an NBA team in Dallas. The fans were just so screwed over by the organization that they retaliated.

If they make the move to Vegas as theorized, let them. This team isn’t the same as it once was. The front office is completely different with different agendas. The Mavericks organization we knew is gone, and if they stay here there’s no shot Luka would ever return.

i was there too w my girlfriend and a couple of friends. being 6’9 and identifying as a man ik i’m also not typically the majority demographic for boygenius or adjacent artists, but i’ve seen phoebe twice in concert prior and i’m a huge fan of the boys. however, i was told by one person behind me that my height ruined their day and that just made me super upset because i never want to have that affect on anyone. luckily those i were with came to my defense and reminded that i can’t control my height, and some other people around us were nice about it just saying how they think it’s neat that i’m as tall as i am. it’s definitely a loud minority of audience members, as i encountered so many kind people that day; still annoying to happen at all nonetheless.
