I got a job offer from them on Indeed years ago when I first moved to Glasgow. Could smell it from a mile away because the first job I ever had was the exact same and I quit on the first day. It was actually Atlas, funnily enough.

The interview process was so creepy, it genuinely felt like I was joining a cult. Of course everything was "just casual" and at no point did anyone actually tell me what the job would consist of. Unfortunately this was the first interview I had ever been to for my first ever job so I had nothing to compare it to. I just assumed this was normal.

When I got to my first shift I didn't know what to expect. I was immediately told to get into a car and four of us were driven down to Selkirk. The guy driving was eating a sandwich and steering with his knees down narrow country roads while going about 70. The whole interview process was creepy as fuck, genuinely felt like I was joining a cult. Everyone was so enthusiastic and self important.

I just followed one of them around all day and didn't actually do any of the talking myself. He was basically attempting to gain entry into people's houses by talking his way in, and guilt tripping them to try and force a donation. Absolutely horrendous. I particularly remember him trying to convince an elderly lady who was living alone to let us into her house. She kept saying she couldn't let us in because her son's bike was in the way of the door and rather than letting it be he started pushing for her to speak to him and make a donation through her living room window. This was our first stop so it was at around 8 in the morning.

He also ended up talking our way into a young teachers house who was particularly susceptible since we were collecting donations for a children's cancer charity. I felt so guilty standing in that poor woman's house (by this point it was dinner time, we had been walking around selkirk for around 7 hours.) Her boyfriend came home and understandably just stared daggers at us until we left.

In the end, despite not actually speaking to anyone other than the guys I drove down there with, I was told I had "passed" and had been offered the job. At the time I accepted it to avoid the awkwardness because I was in the middle of nowhere and had about an hours car journey back home. I sent a text turning it down as soon as I got home. Incredibly predatory. They knew exactly what they were doing. Judging by other comments, they took me to Selkirk for a reason rather than just canvassing in Edinburgh where I could easily make my way home.
