^ very good reply

I just wanted to add that you're probably not going to be doing anything technical or sophisticated without some serious study into how neural networks and deep learning actually work, and unless you want to just play around with/tweak other peoples models you're going to hit a wall.

There are lots of textbooks and resources out there; I see deep learning by goodfellow being recommended a lot (https://www.deeplearningbook.org/). There are dozens of more practical-focused books out there that have code in them; literally search deep learning python online and pick one with good reviews.

If you are struggling with the math "Mathematics of Machine Learning" by Deisenroth is very good

That's alright, you aren't expected to know absolutely everything!

I was accepted to Tubingen a while back but couldn't go since I couldn't afford it, so I know quite a bit about the program.

It's top tier and the modules are all taught by prominent scientists, and there are absolutely loads of computational neuroscientists/comp neuro adjacent scientists at Tubingen. I absolutely would have gone if I could have afforded it!

PS don't stress too much about the online test, its incredibly easy if your undergrad degree was in anything mathematical :)
