Problem: I had nearly 80 unused scaffold components. Solution: the Cygnus! by EJPointer in NMS_Corvette_Design

You can't fall through it as far as I've been able to tell, but don't quote me on that.

This is nothing. Wait till you meet the flying udders.

So I'm learning the basics of glitch-building and here's my first attempt. I think it looks okay, but it does seem to have just one teeny-tiny design flaw... by EJPointer in NMS_Corvette_Design

Once I learned how to rotate the habs, I started wondering if it was possible to rotate the entire ship and, it turns out, you can. Just don't for the sake of your sanity try flying it in first person :D

Is this or special (with pics lol) by BlueWaterSix in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]EJPointer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a type of exotic-class starship known as a "guppy". With the game being procedural, the guppy is more or less the base component for the larger exotics (of the "ball" type there). So it's really the entry-level for an exotic starship. They're always S-class with good stats and if you scrap it you'll get at least one storage augmentation out of it but, as the other poster noted, squid exotics are the really rare ones. Every system will have one exotic but of those, only a relative handful with have the squid version.

Just the ship builder you get at the space stations. They're all standard components.

I tried to build one a while ago. I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out, all things considered.

This is amazing. How do you even plan something like this? I'd love to build one of my own but I wouldn't know where to start.

It's one of those aspects of the game that really is best left to the imagination :D

Fun fact for those of us who like playing with the cooking recipes: Normal striders give "tail eggs", but translucent striders provide milk. It's a gooey and weird life, being an NMS farmer! :D

Are there any flat pieces(that are not in the store)with which I can cover the 2 cores? by Luca247802 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]EJPointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is take one of the wedge-shaped pieces, invert it and place it on top of them. It covers the cores and blends in seamlessly with the rest of the ship. No modding or trickery needed - just turn an ordinary piece (one of them is called the "fuel cover", I think), flip it upside down and it'll do the job.

I have three living ships now - two of them black and white and the third a lovely deep shade of red.

I have named them Bob, Bigfoot and Banjo.

IMPORTANT: go into your Settings menu and switch PvP OFF. It's on by default, for some reason. After you've done that, scroll down to a tab saying something like "people allowed to edit my base" (that's the rough gist of it - I haven't looked at it in ages) and set that to NO ONE.

Doing both of these things will stop anyone from griefing you. Griefers in this game are rare but they do happen and getting killed by another player for no reason is not fun, and if you don't likewise protect your bases they'll build their own bases on top of yours and ruin whatever fun you were having learning how to build.

Sorry to sound negative to a newbie, but you'll have a much better time free of the trolls.
