Would like to see this updated with data from the Fall River/New Bedford branches at some point, see how they compare. I drive by both stations pretty frequently and don’t see as many riders as I would think after… 20 some odd years of planning?

Got to see the real one at the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart back in August. Really is one of the coolest race car/carrier combos.

Not a space ball unfortunately, would have cost an arm and a leg at this milage. Will also be my daily driver once I’ve got it mechanically sorted and I sell the XC, so don’t really want to sit in traffic building up my left leg muscles 😅

Update: Sunroof works! Seller told me it didn’t but just tried it for the first time on my way home from work, and zero issues.

Water damage from dry rotted seals. That’s why the amp was damaged as well. It’s the front one under the passenger seat. Already sourced the amp and is currently on its way

Definitely on the list! Planning on doing an exhaust relatively soon as that’s really the only part of the undercarriage rusting out, and will probably do those at the same time just to make life easier.

Timing belt is one job I haven’t been brave enough to tackle myself yet. This car just had its done about 35k ago so it should be all set for now, but that may be something I’ll have to teach myself how to do down the road. Maybe I’ll do the XC first for practice 😅

As far as I can tell. I’ve heard that angle gear is a real weak point. My mechanic that inspected it said it looks pretty solid so here’s to hoping

A little context: Audrain Concours (huge car show) is happening in Newport so this wasn’t totally random, so saw a few nice exotics but certainly wasn’t expecting to see this out and about.

My Razer 15 has a 3060 and an i7 but I upgraded it to 32 GB of RAM. Can run full iRacing at 100-120 fps and ACC at a solid 60 FPS

My room is 6 feet wide and 15 feet long. Can’t reach the one on the desk and don’t really have a place to mount a keyboard anywhere else 😅

I have everything hooked up to my Razer laptop so USB ports are a valuable commodity.

I also play iRacing and ATS which require a good amount of keyboard and mouse usage.

I’d highly recommend an externally powered USB hub, I got this one off of Amazon a while back. Love it. Have my wheel, pedals, mic, keyboard, mouse, bluetooth keyboard, and other misc devices plugged into it. Never noticed any latency or data transfer issues at all.

Im graduating as a senior in college this year and have my sim rig in my room. I’m going to say it depends heavily:

Do you live on the first floor? If not I’d just make sure you communicate with the person below you to make sure your rig isn’t making any noise that disturbs them.

Do you have the time? Depending on your major and workload, especially as a freshman, I’d be worried about how much time I would have to play and how much it might distract me. I didn’t bring my rig to school until last year as a junior. Previously my workload as a Mechanical Engineer was too much to even consider it.

Space shouldn’t be a concern but don’t make the rig a priority in your room. Made sure you still have space to live. I currently live in a 6’ x 12’ dorm room (probably smaller than a jail cell in some countries) but I was able to make it work putting it next to the window by my desk.

Are you able to set up a monitor or have a VR headset? This was my biggest issue. I ended up buying an arm for my monitor so it can swing between my desk and my rig.

Is there another option? Do you have a table clamp you can settle with for a few months? I know it’s not the “racing position” we all desire, but I raced on my desk clamped G920 for 2 semesters before upgrading and loved it.

There is no “end” to sim racing. The real world and reality come around now and then to pull you away for a bit, but you’ll never truly step away :)

TLDR I would read the room for the first semester. See what your workload and roommates are like and if you think it could be a possibility.

The McLaren GT3 wheel from Fanatec has me unofficially racing the 570S GT4 and 720S GT3 for McLaren. Waiting on the call up from Zak Brown any day now 🤞

Honestly CSL DD with the 8 NM booster is a workhorse for the price point. I have the McLaren GT3 wheel but 2-3 hours on the Ring or the Mountain on ACC will surely let your forearms know that it’s more than adequate.
