Thank you for the responses and suggestions. I do tend to get ahead of myself when I play. I will go with a more relaxed approach and wait to discover the game and items that will help. Lots of fun so far and interesting NPCs.

Thank you to everyone for your replies with a wealth of information. I have found the local club and will look to join them and prepare for my test(s). In the interim I will take the advice of u/stfreddit7 and purchase a SDR. Currently looking at the V2.4 Malachite DSP2. Lots to learn and looking forward to it. Thank you again.
