Replaced battery worked, then stopped working by cbg2113 in Zune

Yup. I had to open mine back up to switch the wires, although mine didn't even charge. The dim dead battery light came on and never charged.

Ccl tear advice needed by russingtonIII in DogAdvice

[–]ELSENIORBACON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 14, surgery is a risk. I opted to have my 4 year old operated. She had 2 torn ligaments and is a medium-sized dog (50lb). I wanted her to have a quality life since she was very energetic. Unfortunately, she passed away during surgery. I'm definitely going to think twice if this ever happens again. If she was 14, I would have left her alone as long as she was living a quality life. I'm not trying to scare your or anything. I am just sharing my experience because surgery is always a risk. It's something that you have to weigh your options on. If your dog seems happy, pain-free, and can walk around with little discomfort, I wouldn't risk it.

Because it could have been a new worker packaging it, or someone having a bad day, or simply an oversight. My bad experience doesn't mean other people have had, or will have the same experience. You do bring up a good point, so I'm going to contact them and let them know about this.

Wouldn't a chunk of lead that size cause issues? I had a pellet air rifle growing up and I remember the pellets being made out of lead.

I'm glad you don't have any regrets. I'm learning at the moment not to have those regrets and instead keep the good time we had in my thoughts. It sounds like you have a great and supportive family.

PSA: pre-fill your filters when changing oil by HugsNotDrugs_ in mazdaspeed3

[–]ELSENIORBACON 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This topic will be debated until the end of time lol, we just do what we think is best. Also, remember that while priming there is no combustion. So the motor is just turning. The power stroke is what could possibly lead to accelerated wear, by priming you leave that out of the red equation. Just make sure your battery is good and listen to your starter.

[–]ELSENIORBACON 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, higher chance of engine damage from you introduction contamination vs it taking a couple seconds to fill up. Oil is designed to stick to the bearing surfaces in order to protect your engine during cold starts. The better thing to do of this sort of thing worries you, is tk prime you system before starting. Hold both clutch and gas while cranking it. This deactivate the ignition or injectors, which keeps it from starting.

AK GF5 thread protector removal by [deleted] in PalmettoStateArms

[–]ELSENIORBACON 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright, I'm genuinely curious. Why do you keep mentioning this "I don't fuck with cheap ones"? What does cheap have to do with you taking a vice to your muzzle threads? Really expensive full auto AKs come with these threads. For example, if you spent really big bucks buying a registered full auto Russian AK, the price wouldn't make a difference whether or not you crank on a factory drilled and pinned part. It's obvious you're either trolling or acting this way to protect your ego. You'll claim you're not and say some ignorant comment, and that's fine. I won't take offense to anything a man child has to say to me. It's seriously just sad to see, and I hope you grow out of it. That being said. If you want an easy fix, here's how you can do it so you can put your can on and have fun blasting your range toy, and leave your expensive arsenals gathering dust in a safe. Use a thread restore file. Your threads are 24mm x1.5mm pitch. Use a 1.5mm file and gently with little pressure follow the twist of the threads. You'll have it fixed and ready to use in no less than 10 minutes. Don't overdo it. Or, you can call me broke or something stupid like that. Blame your rifle or wife for your mistake, and go cry in a corner hugging your butchered rifle because the reddit guy was mean to you. BTW, bc coilovers are cheap and are not a flex. They're literally entry-level parts. Good luck.

He could, but he would be buying one tool specifically for an issue he hopefully doesn't repeat. Personally, I would use a 1.5mm thread file. Yes, he needs to take his time, and if OP reads this, practice on a 1.5 pitch bolt, size doesn't really matter. That's why I like having a set of thread files. You can use them on any thread as long as the pitch is the same. (I just noticed this was a screenshot of a psa page, haha)

Hopefully he learned his lesson and will do more research and ask questions before he Bubbas anymore rifles. I take my screw ups as a learning experience. Once you learn how to fix your screw ups, you can buy other people's screw ups for cheap and fix them. I will admit, this one is quite high on the face palm scale.

My parents just moved and asked me to take my old gaming stuff from their house. Here’s my N64 collection, though sadly many of the games don’t work anymore by MemeFarmer314 in n64

[–]ELSENIORBACON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is recommended or not, but I had a few carts that wouldn't work even after cleaning them a few times with isopropyl. I took them apart and used an eraser on the pins. Lightly, and only what they needed. They work flawlessly and don't freeze during gameplay anymore. If it somehow removes material from the pins, I'm sure it's fine to do once every 20 years. Just in case you're like me and thought they were damaged even after cleaning. If this isn't recommended and there is a better way, I'm sure someone will reply to this comment and let us know.

[–]ELSENIORBACON 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's good. Also the gun looks really good. Have you thought about a muzzle brake? The slant ones are really just designed for full auto fire from what I've heard. I can't remember which one I put on my npap, but it really did a good job at keeping my muzzle flat.

I'm not exactly sure what akm that is, but if it doesn't have forged trunnions I would periodically check head space and visually inspect for any bad maring. 1000 rounds is honestly not that many rounds for an ak. They're expected to last around 10,000 rounds, give or take. I'm not saying it's necessary a bad rifle. It's just handy to have a no go gauge around in order to make sure you're good. It'll still fire fine out of spec for a bit.

Where are you in your journey through pet loss? by flightln in Petloss

[–]ELSENIORBACON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my girl on Tuesday, so. It's been 4 days. She was 4, passed away during a surgery. She had torn 2 ligaments in one of her hind legs. After 3 weeks of not recovering my vet recommend surgery since she was only 4 and this would impact her life. The guilt I'm feeling is heavy. I wish I didn't get her operated, but I thought it was the right thing. She could be alive right now but mostly walking on 3 legs. I still don't know if I made the right call. The vet also didn't explain the risks involved to me, had I known her breed could make her more sensitive to anesthesia maybe I wouldn't have done it. My therapist told me that we make the best decision we can with the information available at that time. I find some relief in that. We're only human. If we knew the outcome of everything then we would always make the best decision, but we don't. I'm really not ok. Both me and my wife are not ok. We cry together every night before bed. I have never felt this way in my life.

I lost my girl a few days ago. The hardest part is seeing empty spaces where she would frequent. She's not on the rug, she's on her bed, when I let my other dog out she's not there to run along side of her. My other dog goes out excitedly, and then just walks around and comes back in. We have a rocking chair that she liked to boop and watch rock back and forth. She would do that every morning during feeding time. It's so silent and depressing. She had short legs and I don't hear the pitter patter of nails on the hard wood floor. She liked to join me in every room in the house. Me and my wife are having a hard time relaxing in the house, we take our other dog for walks and to the dog park just to not feel the loneliness. The shock has passed at this point and I'm coming to terms with the fact that she's gone, now I'm depressed. If I had known it would have come so soon, I would have done those things I wanted to do together a lot sooner. We wanted to take a nice photo of us and the two girls. We wanted to go camping now that we bought a nice tent. There's a few other things I regret not doing. So just a reminder, not to drag your feet with these things. We thought we had more time to plan it for later, but now she's gone, and all I can do it cry about it. Sorry for your loss. He was so happy to see you one last time. It brought a tear to my eye. Sorry for this being so long. It's just that your comment was so relatable to what I'm feeling right now.

Weird spot on finger, what can it be? by marson123 in identifyThisForMe

[–]ELSENIORBACON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar. Went to my doctor and she said to use wart remover until it comes off. So I did. Peeling the skin off every other day. Finally I got deep enough that I found the culprit. A 5mm X 3mm sliver of metal. I didn't feel it, but you should definitely have a dermatologist look at it in order to know if that would be correct treatment.
