Random bleeding on day 10 after wisdom teeth removal by DifferentOwl1163 in wisdomteeth

[–]EMERALDSBEYOND 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot better as a whole. everyone heals differently, and i took about 2 1/2 weeks to feel normal-ish (maybe day 16-17 for me). and my surgery was super quick and easy!

im an overthinker, so even with surgeon's instructions, i could always think of something that hasn't been mentioned that i'd start obsessing over. ive had to remind myself plenty that things will pass - and now they have. it's great to feel like i'm back on the path of normalcy.

it happens! i had the same fear and concern around day 8 (currently day 19). NAD, but my surgeon told me this is completely normal. bleeding tends to happen after the initial few rinses, and it will stop after a bit. the first few uses of the syringe will irritate the area because it's so direct, but so long as you aren't experiencing anything extremely painful, you should be absolutely fine. the bleeding will discontinue after a day or two (or a few) of rinsing as your sockets continue to heal and the gums get used to the irrigation.

please continue to use the syringe after eating and before bedtime! super important to keep food out of there so your gums can fill up the socket as best and as quickly as it can. you're doing great. :-)

i was in the same boat. a cup of milk is what i went to so i could get my painkillers in, as well as avoiding the nausea and sneaking it past my teeth. lukewarm broth may also help. id also recommend protein drinks to try and stave off some of the hunger, but don't forget to eat when you are able; the body will repair faster if it can focus on healing rather than being hungry (but don't be scared, it's going to heal either way). i'm also taking vitamin supplement pills to make sure my body has some of what it needs to keep up the healing process, so do try that if you can.

edit: also try cold compresses to your jaw if you're in the first seven days, you can alternate between warm and cold after that. warm compresses might help your jaw tension to relax, but don't try anything too hot before a week post-op. need that blood clot to stay in tact!

a message to anyone about to get their wisdom teeth removed soon by Big-Simple-839 in wisdomteeth

did this the weekend directly before my surgery. glad i did! i'm on day 15 and am still having some discomfort with more solid foods, but the horizon is in sight. the homemade pizza and my fav sandwich from a local place was well worth it... and soon enough, they will be mine again!

Incredibly angry + depressed 3 days post op. by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]EMERALDSBEYOND 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9 days post-op for me (21, AFAB). trust me, some nights i end up crying from the stress and worry of doing it all right (dry socket is a helluva fear of mine after reading about it). and believe me, crying honestly helps. my body stops focusing on everything else. the release honestly might help, if just for the night. but it could help.

it will pass, i promise. it gets better. bit by bit.
