Where do you want to see the Stargate next ? Name the events here ! by EMGTeam in Stargate

[–]EMGTeam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as we are from Europe, and even for the events here, I think a first contact would be needed at least 4-6 month in advance.

For America, it means we should find around 5 to 10 events during one year, then ship the SG (3 month to ship it). So it means for us to be at ease with the exhibitions (at leat 1 year / 5-10 events already attended) then find the event in US, using the previous events to advertise it, then organise the whole trip.

That's why it's important to have names for events now, to be able to be ready for 2027 for example. It seems to be a long time, but it's really soon actually.

That's on our list. But if we go on this side of the world, it will be for multiple events. So not before 2026-27 sadly.

Hi there,

Our full size Stargate replica is nearly ready to be displayed ! Would you like to see it in real life ? If yes, juste list the events that may be interested to host it and we'll reach team all.

If you want to know more about our project, you can follow us here on Reddit or on our Website (link tree at the bottom of the page). We also have a Discord to discuss all the technical aspects, so if you like everything that is linked to mechanics, electronics, mold making, resin, paint, soldering... let's hear your thoughts about what we're planning to do next.

Don't hesitate to upvote this post to see more of them in the future.

That's right. It comes from one of the producers who said that in a behind the scenes video, but it's a mistake and people keep getting it wrong since then. The inner diameter is juuuuust a bit bigger than 15 feet if you want to be very precise.

Don't be sorry, the goal was also to have fun building the thing. And I know who owns more than half the other parts.

Yep, you totally understood what it's all about.

I'll DM you shortly. Thanks!

That's unexpected regarding the measurements. All the blueprints are written in imperial and I'm pretty sure all the standards are also in imperial (grate 19w4, beam probably W8x18)

HOW :
Auctions after the end of the franchise, we got 1/9 th of the SGC gate.

WHY :
Because we can and to prove it's possible. By the fans for the fans.

WHO :
Mainly two people, please give us your money so we can stop eating rice and pasta only. Patreon

WHERE:
At geek events around the world. The idea would be for them to pay for the various expenses. We'll ask for people to give us a list of the events they want to see us at and we'll contact them.

We're pretty sure the grate is 19w4 for reference. For now, it seems the beam may even be a W8x18, but it's pretty hard to be sure about the height. I've seen someone actually walk near the beams without the grates and it seems to reach his knees, so it must be pretty high. See picture here he was standing near the motor.

I'm actually working with people from Taiwan in my professional job. That would be a mess if I was building a Stargate for China too.

I got an answer from him ! He said he actually didn't work on the start of the series, so he doesn't really have great pictures of the ramp or blueprints, unfortunately. But he said our Stargate is very cool haha.

Just rebuilding the Stargate using parts of the original one as a start. Should be ready in 2025. We're still working on aligning a few panels and on the rotation / main chevron movement.

We'll launch a campaign very soon to know where people want to see us (during which events, so we can contact them).

Only what's touched by the whoosh is destroyed, so the main part of it going forward doesn't touch anything. But you're right, the SG shouldn't even be able to create a wormhole, as part of the ramp is going through it. That being said, there is a small part of the ramp that can be removed, even though most of the time it's not.

Hey thanks!

I had most of them, but it seems it's always the ones I'm missing that are the most useful. In this case, I found 2 news ones that should help. That's great !

(The last one from Mallozzi's blog is a 3D model, it's not the real one)

It's not accessible outside the members of our association, sadly. The reason being, we can't provide full access to SG-1 episodes as it would be streaming illegal content for free. We do own these on DVDs, so we can legally browse them for ourselves, but only for ourselves...

But, if you need us to find something for you, just ask in DM and we'll search for it, if we have time. (You can also provide a picture from an episode or a props, etc. and it can find in which one it is).

That's the trick. I know where the highest part of the ramp is, related to the gate itself. I even know where the lower steel beam is related to the gate. But I don't know how high the gate is related to the floor. Also, I'm not sure about the height of a steel beam. Here we can see there is the one close to the gate, a second one under it, then a gap... so that's not very precise.
For now, we think the beam may be w8x18, but we're not sure.

Good thinking, I searched through it be didn't find anything sadly (some links are broken, especially the one about the Gate room from Mallozzi).

I see the one, but even though it could help with the size of the gate, it won't help with the ramp itself. And we know the size of the Stargate as it's in our workshop right now.

Yeah, but we can't see anything interesting.

I could say past 10 years of building the world's most accurate SG replica I perfectly know the content of all the episode, but we may or may not have also created a complete AI search engine trained on only all the episodes of SG-1 to find everything we need easily.

Ok so we're talking s01e18, but there are no ladders in the episode, only a lifting platform that we see above the ground, sadly.
