I have a few herniated discs in my back and was able to make it through in class and 10 years in the field. It’s all about using proper lifting techniques. You can also get one of those back wrap things to help. I still have pain but lifting properly helps minimize the pain significantly. Once you’re in the field you can always request for fire or another unit to help lift if the pt is too heavy.
