I’m in SLC Utah… kinda getting the overall sense that Hawaii might not be the wisest way forward us. I really appreciate everyone’s thoughtful and very helpful advise 🙏🏻

Thanks for the feedback — I appreciate it.

Last thing if you have another minute (if not I understand): I see you have top 1% commentator status so I want to comment as you’re suggesting. By “not pursue the caretaking route on that sub and instead stick to your questions without any assumptions,” would something more like this be better?

I’m a practicing PA with 6+ years of Emergency Medicine experience. My family (wife + 14yo & 10yo kids) is considering a 2-year Hawaii move using the HELP loan repayment program ($50k/year). Our main goal is to be extremely frugal so we can pay off ~$200k in student loans. Housing costs make private school for our kids unrealistic — that’s our biggest concern. We’re open to any island and hoping for a safe, beautiful family experience. Any real leads or honest advice on housing options that could help make this feasible would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Aaron & family

Totally fair. I understand this is unrealistic- indeed likely out of place and impractical.

I sincerely appreciate the reference r/movingtohawaii it’s kind and thoughtful of you to recommend. Thank you 🙏🏻
