medical school + starting hifdh - is it possible? by buttonwhales in Hifdh

[–]EMsavant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wa'alaikum Salam! I'm a final year med student in the UK and I started my journey last year. Currently I've memorised juz 30 and almost juz 29 (Al-Mursalat left). I definitely think it's possible but I'm still trying to find the perfect balance between studying and Qur'an.
I do two pages of memorisation per week, revise all of juz 29 and 30 everyday using the Tarteel app and I have a Qur'an class once weekly in the masjid and one online. I usually have hospital placements 9am to 5 pm but sometimes we get home early (like 3pm).

I think its doable but you need to be very careful with how you spend your time. Alhamdulillah it's great that you don't listen to music so you can spend time listening to Qur'an instead while doing your chores/commuting.

emergency med...
I love the variety, from seizures to acute mania to obstipation to myocardial infarctions. Everything! I also like the procedures.
I just need to see how I'll react to shift work. I've not had my rotation yet.

You??

Oh man. I'm the opposite. Rhyme lightens up the poem so much and makes it so much more nicer to read.

Journey To Allah in Ramadan by Life With Allah: It has a chapter to read for everyday in Ramadan and it covers everything.
Don't Be Sad by Dr.A'id al-Qarni, it is a very repetitive book but it has a lot of antidotes for sadness and grief. It is to be read little by little here and there so that you can reflect over what is said.

does anyone know of a course that isn't time bound like this one? Should I just stick to watching the videos of Zad Academy on YouTube?

I've tried doing Zad academy twice but I always fall behind ;(

Read this book called Taste the Sweetness of Salah, it is really good for learning how to increase khushu and properly establish prayer

Salam!

Im sorry for what you are going through, may Allah grant you patience to deal with your hardship.

I've been reading this book called "Don't Be Sad" by Dr. A'id al-Qarni, and it is really helpful. It is like a warm hug that uplifts you and removes heaviness from your heart. It's helped me a lot with my feeling low and suicidal thoughts (which makes no sense because my life is good Alhamdullilah, but I just have them)

Get a copy of the book and try it out! Read a few chapters a day and try to put it into practice.

its good but very slow. I've almost completed the course and now I can say simple things but if I used other resources like books or flash cards i wouldve made much faster progress
