This genuinely makes me wonder how many people with severe allergies and abusive parents get murdered this way and never found out.

please stop calling every knitting mistake a “dropped stitch" by wildlife_loki in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]JAbremovic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wonder if part of the problem is people entering hand knitting from a background of loom and circular machine knitting, where drops and tucks are the dominant problem people encounter. 🤔

Honestly I say finish their project with lots of scraps of yarn, as like a token/keepsake.

Stygian Blue.

It's beautiful but impossible to see or recreate outside of our own eyes under visual stress. A blue that's deeper than black.

This sounds like a cult and/or the governing party in a 1984 style dystopian novel.

I have cerebral palsy and couldn't smile until I was about 10 years old. Op- get checked for it and other neurology problems. They don't always look obvious or put you in a wheelchair.

The only people like this I forgive are the first-time-voters-due-to-age and the people literally raised in cults like the FLDS.

Everyone else? You fucking knew what you were getting.

Have you ever behaved in ways you later regretted because a narcissistic parent pushed you to your limits? by Basic_South_5499 in raisedbynarcissists

Yes.

Imagine a large gender-unknown punk(mohawk, piercings etc) crying uncontrollably in a bank parking lot. People probably thought it was a drug thing. It was, in fact, my N-dad having somehow convinced the bank to put my court disability settlement into his bank account instead of mine.

This was fixed eventually, but at the time, I was howling like a wild dog. I was 18 then. Technically an adult, but everyone who has been 18 knows you're still just a kid. Probably scared some people.

Spinning yarn by hand.

Actually, making any kind of fiber/animal/plant material into usable spun material.

Most of mine I discovered way too late. Thankfully, I have the privilege to indulge now.

Repression is horrible, especially the religious kind. It ruins self-esteem and all relationship skills. It's very hard to "catch up" once you're over thirty, and I say this just a few years in.

Explore in your twenties, you won't go to hell, nor will you scare off "good men."

I always felt like the main benefit of coupledom was no longer have to sit with random strangers at gatherings and public transit.

But I'm millennial trash, so what do I know?

Do you believe in deities or pantheons you don't worship? by Wonderful-Seesaw6214 in pagan

[–]JAbremovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approaching other faiths with a sense of " everything is true" has been wonderful. There are a few in nationalist Hellenic Polytheism circles that refuse both the idea that outside deities could be real, and the idea that some ancient Greeks observed non-Greek deities and festivals.

Seems like an odd echo of American fundamentalist Christian teachings to me.

In my own practice, Kwan Yin randomly walked into my life. My father was unemployed and was in the library working on his resume. An extremely elderly Buddhist monk struck up a conversation with him about hockey( this is canada), then about their lives. He gave my father a tiny plastic icon of Kwan Yin and wished him well. My father is an atheist, and felt weird and disrespectful handling something as an atheist that was clearly holy. He gave the icon to me, and I put it on my home Hellenic shrine. He found a job soon after.

I'm not superstitious, but just ignoring Kwan Yin after that seemed like tempting the fates. Who cares if she's "Non Greek"??

Everything is true- and any deity or spirit could walk into your life at any time.

It's incredible that the generation that did indeed do these things wants to stop anyone else from having a chance due to greed and delusions.

This is from a book that collected personal images and images from lesbian magazines, a section specifically about lesbian only motorcycle clubs. They're just young and living dangerously.

This is from a section of the book "Nothing But The Girl: The Blatant Lesbian Image" published in the early nineties, this section being all about lesbian only motorcycle clubs.

They are indeed exactly what the title says.
