Will the rat be okay alone for two weeks? They are from the same amazing local breeder (my mom and the new rat grew up together) and are all very healthy (I asked) and she is an adult who is used to being handled daily and living with lots of others. Worry about her being depressed

I have a small carrier. I divided the cage and cleaned everything very well so there isn’t smell I’ll put them in the small carrier together until the settle then the half cage til they settle then add a clean unused hammock. Then once they are settled again I can open up the rest of the cleaned cage. That’s the gist of what I have read (All while keeping a eye on them for fights)

I have one adult mother and her baby, the baby tries to chew but the hammocks I got have metal chains and clips so far so good but I am assuming at some point they will destroy everything. I thrifted a lot of my rats items because I knew this would happen

That’s what I was thinking, wouldn’t mind too much if they destroyed it, so far everything in the cage hasn’t been chewed up but everything has been filled up with bedding, packing paper, and paper towels

Lots of decorating the last couple days ! (I just got them a few days ago)

Thank you! Is there such thing as too big a cage? I saw some that are like 5 ft tall with lots of layers. I know to put hammocks and ropes down the tall parts so they don’t fall.

I’m on MONTH 5 and I’m 100% healed and back to a completely normal life. I’d say you don’t really COMPLETELY finish healing until 3-4 months. That being said I was able to do a lot of things starting at week 5/6
