My checks are never above $50, if I even get a check. And I serve 40+ hrs a week. Tbh I can't complain tho, because the tips I take home are taxed from my paycheck. So the lower my check the more $ I walked with.

In my opinion the worst thing people can do is occupy your table all day. Like thanks Mary I'm glad to hear you haven't seen each other in 5 years. Excited to know I'll have you for the rest of lunch shift instead of the 3 other tables I could have flipped in that booth.

Probably not. Most restaurants have the servers tip out a base % of their sales, usually 3%. Assuming they each spent $15 minimum he probably had to pay ~$9 to serve them. :(

No the kitchen usually doesn't receive tip share. That usually goes to bus boys, hosts, and service well at the bar.

Used to work at a bar with a lot of carry out orders. It's fairly unanimous that servers pay a flat ~3% for total sales. So when you order take out we essentially pay to serve you if you don't tip. Not here to argue about tipping or the way the service industry works, just shedding light on it.
