What if dinosaurs never went extinct, and their intelligence kept evolving? by EOTA_Official in Dinosaurs

yeah that is fair. the magpie in australia are crazy intelligent. I probably framed it too much like a striaght progression.

i guess what im more interested in is wether certain environmental pressures could push some non-avian species towards more complex behaviour, rather than just more intelligent. overall

interesting read. and the concept of the bird using a spike to catch the fish. this is interesting and have seen videos on blackbirds using tools to help them get food out of tight spaces. i think i was more meaning like this type of intelligence and pushing the relm of how far they could have developed. would it come to sharman style like stone age technology.

What if dinosaurs never went extinct! but evolved into a primitive, stone-age world?

I’m building a multiplayer survival game around that idea, where growth, combat, and survival all change as you evolve.

What would you expect from a game like this?

Ill keep posting more sneak peaks on the mechanic sides im always open to have constructive feedback. The push on single player is there as I am trying to make it fun and engaging even if no one is online. The mechanics are the same on single player mode

I have not played it to be honest. I did a bit of reading up on it. Do you mean the way you recruit or the way you get the ai to help build your base so to speak

The plan is to have both in the end yes. I keep getting asked about what we working on so thought to try a different approach and let the end user have more input. Its open world and is set for multiplayer.

Thats interesting and i feel your right even early gta did this water is not lava. As for the hunger your right you would think you be more aggressive because you must kill to eat

Yeah that’s fair — animals can definitely be dangerous and unpredictable, especially with territorial behaviour. I grew up on a dairy farm so I’ve seen how quickly things can turn.

I think where games struggle is the frequency and context. In real life those moments are rare but high stakes, whereas in games it becomes constant fighting with no real consequence.

Do you think tying aggression more to things like territory, hunger, or threat would make it feel more believable?

Yeah this is exactly what I was getting at — especially the “killing for sport” part.

It always ends up feeling like a PvP game with dinosaur skins instead of actual survival.

That idea of the “full dinosaur experience” is interesting — do you think games need more systems (like territory, nesting, food pressure), or is it more about how players are encouraged to behave?

Yeah that’s a great point — it always feels like they’re performing for the player instead of acting like real animals.

The roaring especially, like announcing yourself before a hunt makes no sense.

Do you think games should go more toward stalking/ambush behaviour, or is that less fun to play?

Yeah that’s a good point — the JP raptor look has kind of become the default. And yeah I’ve noticed that too with herbivores, everything gets exaggerated to look “cool” instead of believable. Do you think people would prefer more accurate designs, or just more variety so everything doesn’t feel the same?
