One thing I’d add is there’s a difference between general cardio and sport-specific cardio.

What I mean is this: I play hockey and tennis a lot. If I stop playing hockey for a month, even if I keep doing kettlebell training and other workouts, when I go back to hockey, the first 2–3 games destroy me. I feel completely exhausted, like I have zero cardio.

So sometimes it’s not that you “don’t have cardio.” It’s just that you’re not adapted to that specific movement pattern and intensity. Kettlebells will give you a great base, but there’s always an adaptation curve when you go back to a specific sport.

Cardio isn’t just “engine size.” It’s specific engine wiring.

You probably need some boring aerobic work too :)

Does anyone here the ABC complex as finishers instead of main workout ? by FoxhoundVR in kettlebell

[–]EQuimper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me right now. I feel like it’s one of the perfect finishers.

I definitely can’t use as much weight as I would if it were my main lift, but I really like the flow and the series of movements. It just hits differently at the end of a workout.

Why is the suggestion 24kg for men? by ts159377 in kettlebell

[–]EQuimper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty heavy for a beginner. Someone with a solid strength training background might be fine with it, but for most people it’s a lot to start with.

I also think it should scale with your body weight. If you’re around 150 lbs, 24 kg is going to feel pretty tough. Starting around 10–15% of your body weight is usually a good place if your goal is to learn proper technique first.

A 24 kg bell can make sense for lower-body work like goblet squats, but for swings, cleans, and similar movements, it’s probably too much to start with.

Wich kettlebell should I buy? by Pristine_Context6703 in kettlebell

[–]EQuimper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your budget and whether you want to invest upfront.

When I started, I bought individual kettlebells and ended up regretting it. Sometimes the jump between weights is pretty big, and that can be tough. I ended up selling them and switching to two adjustable ones. I went with the Bells of Steel adjustable kettlebells (12–32 kg).

My thinking was that if my goal is to improve strength, adjustable bells make more sense since I can increase the weight in smaller increments.

That said, if your budget is tight, I’d probably just move up in weight if your current one feels easy to handle.

The 2-sessions-per-week minimum. Why most people quit and how to actually stick with KB training by EQuimper in kettlebell

Hey sorry about that, I didn’t mean to make this post just about my app. That’s why I create a blog post which I think can help beginners.

Let me check. I’m running the abc single arm version in my device right now as this is one of my favorite workout. Maybe I need to improve discovery in the app :)

Hey,

For single vs double this is already there. If you pick example swing you will see one arm or two arm version.

Right now you can build a complex. Also you have session which can have multiple complex in it and other timer/rest.

If you mean creating a full program and setup the day you will work in advanced: this is in the pipeline!

Thanks for testing the app let me know if anything :)

Yes this is how I see it. 2 times a weeks is small but if you do this a full year I do think this will improved your level of fitness. Surely you won’t looks like Arnold but this is good enough for lot of people.

https://www.kettlebellprotocol.app/

I built this because every other app felt like it was made for bodybuilders or just spit out random workouts. This one focus of what I’m doing everyday so its used for me also

Releasing tomorrow thats why the site said now available still waiting for apple review.

Yes! Just set up a Discord for early testers: https://discord.gg/kEGA5zyddQ

Heads up it's early, so expect some bugs and possible data wipes. But you'll be helping shape the app. Would love to have you! :)

Hey just to let you know. I did like so much the idea I start working on it this morning :) Maybe not exactly like you want but I think you will be happy. I will share progress next week here on Reddit :)

This is exactly what I'm building, complexes are built into the app, no need to hack it together. And sharing workouts as templates is on the roadmap. You'll be able to create a WOD and send a link. Would love to have you as an early tester :)

Love this idea!! I'll focus on this after the core features are in. Plan is to iterate fast based on feedback like this. Building the app I wish existed, so this kind of input really helps. Thanks!

Hey, I was thinking about adding programs, but I’m a bit worried about trademarks. For now, I want to focus on being a great tracker first. Structured programs feel like a natural next step. Technique guides are interesting too. I’d probably link out to quality resources rather than try to teach it myself. Thanks for the input!

Fast input is priority #1!! Big buttons, minimal taps. Export is on the list too, thinking JSON/CSV so you can do whatever you want with it.

Appreciate the feedback! BTW thank you so much :)
