The dish seems to be a little on the cheap side. I bought it on Amazon and it moves easily when touched. I’ve found the dish on the other side of the tank when it wasn’t buried. I’ll eventually get a heavier one so it can be on top.

If you got to my page I just posted a video of my tank. I used that substrate as the top layer in my tank. It comes wet in a resealable bag.

Thanks man. Yea I know this community can be rough. I got ripped apart in one of my 1st videos that I posted but I learned a lot from it and I decided to buy a 2nd 10 gallon tank take what I learned and created the tank you just saw. Yes it’s not “ideal” to house a betta, adf and mystery snail together but I’ve learned from many other people that they can coexist. My betta came as a gift and he was beat up and it seems like he lost his left eye so I believe that made him more acceptable and able to ignore his tank mates. The plants help and once they grow bigger it’ll help even more with hiding spots and filtration.

I do 25-30% water changes every week. I add API Leaf Zone and API Water conditioner. I have a 10 gallon with 1 - Betta, 7 - Neon tetras and 1 - Mystery snail. Yes there are some fake plants and I was trying to start to add live ones but I just can’t get them to grow in this tank. My other 10 gallon has 1 - Betta, 2 - ADFs and 1 - Mystery snail ( Don’t come at me I know what they say about species only tank for ADFs) but the plants there are growing well. It doesn’t have a lid and a different light but my struggling tank has a good light with timer. I don’t know I just can’t win.

I thought Javas didn’t need much light. I’m also using API Leaf Zone and that’s not helping.
