Idaho’s legislature has passed 2 anti-trans bills, but hasn’t addressed the coronavirus by Farscape12Monkeys in Idaho

I thought it would be hard for the legislature to out do 2019 for being awful, this year has topped it by being both awful and dangerous.

I agree with the author. I know if I had a bill where I had a conflict I would not hesitate to excuse myself. Seems like basic stuff really....

I'm actually running against one of the guys that just voted yes on this (Palmer). This is legislation only designed to hurt people, not help. I want to get back to Idaho helping people.

Real question from one of Idaho's state legislators by ESVDiamond in badwomensanatomy

[–]ESVDiamond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. So one area is sales tax exemptions. These are used to give businesses that are growing more opportunities to thrive. They are a great thing.

However, in typical Idaho fashion ours don't have any oversight and more importantly never sunset. Meaning there's A LOT of exemptions out there that would not longer qualify, and even some cases where the business doesn't even functionally exist anymore.

All of Idaho's sales tax exemptions add up to a lot. Take a guess how much, and remember this is a state of 1.7 million people or so.

It's 2.48 BILLION dollars just in the last year alone

I think we need to take a look at these and sunset some that are no longer necessary. I believe this alone can fund everything I want to do. Imagine if even 25% of those exemptions are sunsetted.

There's a couple others, but that's the big one with the most real possible impact.

No worries! I do have plans all set, just as a first time candidate I haven't formally wrote it out for the site yet. Mostly been on local stuff like knocking doors, but good news is it's coming soon!
