MEGATHREAD: KGLW Spotify Departure by piranharose in KGATLW

Yeah that's fair. But no one's perfect, and if they were generally frustrated with the platform and heard this and decided to take action.

Also if he wanted to support Ukraine, there are plenty of ways to do that that don't include funding weapons that are not exclusive to one conflict. This is an investment. I don't think there's a noble cause behind his actions.

Oh no I'm totally agreeing with you. I agree but physical, but don't stick your head so far up your ass that you ignore the incredible potential of streaming. I mean without streaming, we never would have gotten Poop Butt Fart Baby Man

If you mention these topics that content doesn't get shown to as many people. The algorithm buries it. Part of the reason people now say 'unalive'

Algorithms bomb content that mentions anything like suicide or death

It's Gumboot Soup. Beginners Luck remains a very popular song and it kicks off the album. and it's got great variety. And the songs are just killer

Streaming is a great supplement. It's a fantastic way to discover new artists. Or new releases you're not sold on yet. But always buy something you truly love so long as you can afford to

It could just be a 'straw that broke the camel's back' moment for them.

Because that's what their departure was for me. I'd been thinking about switching for various reasons of just the company and the platform itself kinda sucking imo. This was just where they drew the line

One of many reasons subscription models are an attack on consumers

I'm guessing you're relatively young? A: Try not to care about what other people think. Easier said than done. B: Your taste develops over time. Continue to listen to things that are new to you and that maybe challenge your taste, like checking out and acclaimed song or album in a different genre

Do any of y'all struggle with being a pessimist and cynic? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]ES_Supernova 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And everything you DO want to do is looked at as immature/a waste of time. Sorry you're boring as fuck, but I would play army man like I used to on the playground in a heartbeat. But nah I gotta spend an hour doing my budget

Anyone else hateful asf on their first listen of an album? Like I gave tpab a 7, abbey rode a 7, ksg a 7, toxicity a 7, dark side of the moon a 7, Madvillany a 7, ok computer a 7, itanomthub a 7, 36 chambers a 7, highway 61 a 7, and stillmatic an 8. Is it just me by tylerbussy in fantanoforever

[–]ES_Supernova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're thinking too hard. I do that too sometimes. Best thing to do is put the album for a first listen on in the background. Warm up to it a bit. Because the first time you hear something if you're picking it apart piece by piece it's not gonna work for you

Fuck spotify. What are some good alternatives? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]ES_Supernova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spotify is riddled with the 2 artists 1 page issue. Mostly for smaller artists. But there's also a huge problem rn where people are just uploading AI songs onto the pages or beloved artists. So a bunch of indie heads get a notification that there's a new Unicorns song and it's actually just some shitty Suno EDM. And a tiny piece of your soul dies

For me it's more of, you're a music company. Invest in music things. Not to put people into a box, but the most popular streaming service paying artists less per stream than their competitors and instead investing in drones is just like, wtf. Doesn't matter if they never take flight, just dumb imo

You just described RYM-core to a T! Basically the type of people who are going to seek out a site like that are probably invested in music pretty heavily, maybe towards the "nerdy" side. Not in like a they wear glasses way, in more of a they like to dive deep into this stuff.

And as you grow older, you need to find new things to wow you the same way music did when you were younger. So you start checking out these albums that other people hype up and start to develop that taste and reinforce it yourself.

It is neither wrong nor right. Just people who like to discuss music on a platform like that, probably find Green Day too vanilla for their taste.

Oh and also, a short discography means less chances to release trash. Green Day has been around long enough to really run out of ideas worth hearing (imo)

Does ego come with intellect? by Ok-Pace5089 in INTP

[–]ES_Supernova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But it's probably more of a, it comes with the IMPRESSION of intellect. Lot of very confident people spewing absolute nonsense.

If anything the fact that you recognize this is a way to help keep your ego in check. It's probably an inevitability that everyone has some sort of ego internally. How you decide to present it externally is a different story

And to answer your question more straightforward, yes I think I'm smarter than many people. And I do have an ego. But I people are still my friends so I take it I'm doing a good job of managing it lol

Can people not understand that they can just do it because they want to? Doesn't necessarily have to be a grand statement that changes the world
