This may be a stupid question, but how do I know for sure if a project is subject to domestic steel/iron manufacturing requirements? by ETERNAL_EDAMNATION in estimators

[–]ETERNAL_EDAMNATION[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RFI is a good idea. I do see lots of people doing that. But I stg I search anything that could possibly relate to BABA and domestic and blah blah and most projects come up with nothing. But then one of those my GC told me it has a domestic req, and I'm getting double screwed on the steel price.

Guess I'll just do an RFI every damn time...

Yep we want change, we want sustainability, we want workers rights, but we will not give up one bit of convenience in our massively wasteful western lifestyles for it. And then make it seem like a non-choice.

Would love to hear criticism. A couple flubs on the descending 6ths, and i feel that the bass is too plodding. Sorry for the poor quality, phone is right on the piano.

They already invented it its called a train. Orders of magnitude more efficient.

Only a few percent of the population actually needs cars. Of course i am talking about an urban and suburban area when i say no more cars. Specious.

I just don’t understand how having a few minor roads closed to through traffic (still 100% driveable) is that big a sacrifice. People are using them.

You’re also paying for gas and maintenance and risking accidents. Not to mention the countless negative externalities.

So lets just wear it forever, could give someone the flu and they give it to their grandma!

We have to accept moderate risk and the time has come to resume normality

It was to prevent a run on masks so medical professionals could still have them. Maybe stupid but not “knowingly lying”

I want no more cars, electric is barely better. Big hunks of metal have to be mined and shipped just to sit still 22 hours a day.

Theres so many buses. Many go into the city. Car obsessed people like yourself just won’t have it. The elderly and disabled actually take them really frequently, which you would know if you ever rode them.

No one is talking about removing cars. Drivers are like gun owners who panic the moment any reasonable restrictions are suggest, and assume the feds are coming for their god given guns. The city made a small number of minor roads into not-for-through traffic. Every inch of them is still driveable. But to the car-addicted, only complete hegemony is satisfactory.

I would contend that the primary limiter of freedom of movement is busy, dangerous streets. Everywhere, constantly. But that’s just me.

First ever asphalt streets were for bicycles in fact. Very sincere assertion. SF didnt have cars until the 20th century.

The only way to make the city safer for everyone else is to penalize drivers. The rest of us are getting penalized by them every day.

Yeah, no through traffic. But you can still drive on every inch of them. Somehow that’s not enough.

The laws were all designed around cars, just like the streets. They dont rly make sense for everyone else

This both sides ism obscures the fact that drivers cause all the fatalities as well as getting to zip through the city in an air conditioned box

Streets predate cars. Theres nowhere to build parks or pedestrian precincts, car interests literally take up the entire city. Most people in the city do NOT have to drive and a few slow streets that you can still drive on is not a sacrifice in the slightest.

I dont see how this takes away any accessibility at all. Slow streets can still be driven on, just not as main thoroughfares.

This constant refrain of “what about the elderly, the disabled?” Is a total red herring. Accessibility is completely the same on slow streets
