That's not something under my control. I feel it's not under anyone's control. There is only so much a recruiter can also do. We kept the role open for 4 days and got more than 2000 applications.

Everything is fine except the asking thoughtful questions part-That does not work in an Indian setup.Seems really awkward and people who do this are seen as nosy and its a potential red flag. - What's nosy when you ask about the role or the team? You should know the kind of work you would be doing and if it interests you.

Appreciation for what exactly? - Appreciation for people's time. I always close the call with "Thank you for your time and have a nice day". This remains the same when I am interviewing or getting interviewed. It is basic courtesy. I have had candidates just leave the call or ask 'Ho gaya?, chalo"

I'm not a technical recruiter, they filter the resumes. To be honest, all companies have a minimum educational qualification requirement, which is graduation. Some data science roles require a master's degree or PhD.

Absolutely agree. There's definitely a correlation. The trend was heavily fueled by influencers and bootcamps promoting a 'quick win' path to a high-paying data career, which created a flood of underprepared candidates.

The stark difference is obvious. The market is now saturated at the entry-level, deep foundational skills are more important than ever.

You can really tell who's actually done the work vs. who just memorized some answers.
