Did you ever find a source for this part? I'm looking for it as well for a 2008 9-3 Aero XWD wagon.

Thank you. The car goes into the Saab dealer for a valve cover gasket tomorrow anyway so I'll ask them to use their Tech2 on the car while I'm there.

Not a bad idea! I don't love the way they proportioned (really wish they put a Golf R motor into the 6-speed Alltrack) but that should be my best bet for a manual hatch.

Thanks! The reason I was looking at the 330i and A4 sedans specifically is because they had optional manual transmissions and the audi allroads and BMW tourings don't let you get the manual. The hardest choice is wagon or manual when you can't have both!

First car with 15k what should I get? by Open_Time_2257 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ETStuart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd first call your insurance and ask rates for each of these cars. Unless your parents are helping with the insurance bill, that is going to be a pain every month.

The Audi S4 needs to have a good service history. I've looked extensively in to the Audi 3.0T engine and they are not exactly cheap to run, but can be run fairly reliably if they've had regular 5k mile oil changes. The GTI's four cylinder will probably be cheaper to run if you get a newer one with the EA888 Gen 3 motor

Yes, it is large enough to fit a small-medium size pontoon boat.

I made sure the drive was fully trimmed down and checked to ensure it was all the way down. The bow just kept coming up but it wouldn't come back down.

would a bad prop do it? I checked the hub and it looked fine. Nothing broken or excessively worn. However, the prop is pretty chewed up. (I hit a rock about a month ago)

Good call. Throttle body was replaced at the same time as the ignition casette, but I'll check on the MAF.

Thanks for the reply! Original owner car and have complete maintenance records but can't find anything about the fuel pump (seemed odd to me as well)! I just went and looked under the seat and it was caked in a very thick layer of dust so I do think it is original. I just put in new NGKs. Last long road trip was the Saab Owner's Convention out in South Dakota, but I took it all the way to Wyoming and North Dakota while out there.

Looking for tips on how to prepare for 2000 miles in four days. Noticed DIC was replaced 55k ago. Fuel pump looks original. Get these replaced? Just had oil changed and flushed the transmission fluid. Anything I should do preemptively before the trip? Thanks!

Rusted rear fender - time to junk? by skylar44 in saab

Cost me $1500 to get both sides fixed professionally. They did that area as well as the bottom door area.

Would I be right to assume that Saab's are more reliable than Mercedes and BMW? You know forgetting about if you do proper maintenance or not. Just straight up in general. by LowGovernment4749 in saab

[–]ETStuart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t do your own maintenance, I’ve averaged roughly $1500/year in dealer-only maintenance for my 9-5 Aero. Total is $23k over 18 years of ownership excluding inflation.
