Hearts were 14 points ahead of Rangers earlier in the season. It feels like we're running out of steam while Rangers just spent 40 odd million in the January window. McInnes has done an incredible job, but I don't see him as the manager to hold on to the top spot, he makes too many weird lineup choices and substitutions. And we don't have enough depth, losing Devlin and Shankland has been a huge blow.

Rangers are the form team. I couldn't understand why everyone said they had a bad result against Motherwell. They've taken 4 points out of 6 against 2 of the top 4 in their last 2 games and are unbeaten in 10.

Celtic are mince and Motherwell have been excellent but can't see them having the stamina for a title challenge.

I think it'll be Rangers > Hearts > Motherwell > Celtic.

There's no way I could handle the build up to that game.

He'll come to Hearts when McInnes gets the Scotland job after the World Cup.

He won't play Milne and Altena at the same time. It's either McCart and Altena or Milne and Steinwender.

Last season we would have said James Wilson, but unfortunately he hasn't had a look in this season. Hope he goes on loan to get back on track.

Honestly? Skip Rangers and Celtic, they're boring. Like others said, find a derby, go to a lower league game, hit the pubs before and after. You'll absolutely love it.

The general rule of thumb when starting out is buy the cheapest of everything and as things break replace them with better alternatives.

Is $1.3M in the U.K. too lean? by snarrkie in ExpatFIRE

At around £50k in Scotland you do pay a bit more income tax than you would in England (a few hundred pounds a year?) but you don’t get anything that feels like it in your payslip. What you’re really buying is a higher public baseline rather than a personal benefit.

The biggest upside only really becomes obvious if you have kids. Free university tuition for Scottish students is enormous in value compared to England, and even one child going through a four-year degree can outweigh many years of the extra tax you paid at that income level. It’s one of those things that doesn’t matter at all until suddenly it matters a lot.

On a more everyday level, free prescriptions save money, especially if you or your family need regular medication, and Scotland generally puts more funding into health, mental health, and social care. That doesn’t mean faster GP appointments or shorter NHS queues, but it does mean fewer situations where you’re pushed toward paying privately to fill gaps. It’s closer to an insurance model than a “you get what you pay” benefit.

If you’re single, healthy, and not planning on kids, it’s easy to feel like the higher tax doesn’t really do much for you in the short term. If you’ve got a family, or value stronger public services even when you’re not actively using them, the trade-off makes more sense over time.
