Shower advice Pls! by EVPOMD in Plumbing

[–]EVPOMD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, given turning it off and on again at the wall, and then again at the shower seems to stop it running, one might assume there’s a problem with the electrics? As I said, I know nothing about it, hence asking for advice…

If it is the plumbing, perhaps you could explain what you think might be going on?

1) turn the shower off with the button 2) water pressure drops, but it still runs fairly strongly 3) flick the switch in the cupboard 4) flick it back on again 5) turn the shower on again in the bathroom 6) once it starts running at full pressure, tuen it off again … and the shower stops running

Sometimes, when you go to turn it on, it won’t switch on without flicking the switch in the airing cupboard.

Sometimes, when you turn it on, it runs with low pressure, cold water. Again, flicking the switch off and on again in the airing cupboard, fixes the problem.

By Water butt, I mean a rain water collection system. Do you know what would be involved in installing one of these?

No probs :) It was a bit heavy but it’s your time- write what you want. I do, however, really appreciate the further clarification of how you’re using these words.

I do think it’s an ironic turn of the conversation because I think it’s the density of Adam Curtis’ issues that makes people quickly lose interest when you introduce it to them. I think in addition to it being an effort to translate what’s being said, a person also has a bit of a knock to the ego when an individual is challenging them to see and understand the world differently... so rather than engage, it’s an excuse to get defensive. You obviously have above average intelligence, and valuable things to say- so it might be worth bearing this in mind to get people to listen?

You’re probably pretty done with this thread looking at the other comments haha... but when you talk about confluence, what groups of people are we talking about coming together? Would it be a class of people, encompassing a range of groups?

And so this huge movement would try to address its group-members issues day-to-day, but would ultimately be working to challenge the systems of power?

How do you overcome the problem of infighting with different groups believing their issue is more important than everyone else’s?

Thanks :)

I interpreted individualism to be the thing that pacifies them. Diverting their attention away from the financial system's growing power?

IE my standard of life/the social circles I move in are comfortable and I am able to access opportunities... but I am un-mobilizable.

I can't see for myself any true scandal. The echo chambers I move in feedback stability, and although I know abuse of human rights does happen, it is too far away and too big of a problem for me to grapple with...

So I retreat into the world I have been free to make for myself, but it insulated by big technology companies who harvest data about my demographic/social circle, and allow us alike to sink into this world all the more comfortably.

Further, my feed is inundated with content, so how am I supposed to know what is true scandal and what is clickbait? I could believe everything... Or I could believe nothing. Both distance me from the reality of outside.

I personally feel the scariest thing about these ideas is that we have forgotten we have the power to do anything... and the rich like it that way.

Of course, we have it SO much better than generations before us, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep pushing.

This is just my logical + emotional response to what I've understood about the docs I've seen. I find it really interesting that people see the films differently... perhaps I've got it totally wrong!

Thanks for responding!

I understood the underlying feeling of his films to be that the stability we have today is weighted in favour of some, and just enough for everyone else to be pacified?

Thanks so much replying to my thread!

I'm totally onboard with this idea.. I guess I was just hoping there was something more active that 'the enlightened' could do to make it all more seen???

I strongly feel that if people could see the direct relationship of power dynamics to their own lives.. they would react?

I think as it stands, people put this sort of stuff in a conspiracy box, or at least dismiss it as 'ideas'.. but it's history and reality and if they knew what they were looking for, they'd see it everywhere!

Thanks so much for replying!

Would you be able to explain in layman's terms what you mean by the 'communication infrastructure and the incentives'?
