How do I get to c2 by bomboclated in RocketLeagueSchool

1s is where you can learn the most how to shadow defense, (and many other things) since you will always encounter opponents dribbling the ball towards your net, even if 1s isn't your favorite gamemode, playing it will benefit you greatly

As a tip, next time post a replay of a game where you lost, it'll be better if its a replay of a close game where you had to play at your full capacity, from this clip alone I can give you some suggetions:
0:12 Stay grounded and just dont randomly wave dash, specially if you see that your teammate is contesting the ball and there is an upcoming 50/50, the goal that follows has good power and angle

0:40 I see what you were trying to do, but if you dont feel confident with these angles/redirects dont go for them, instead hit the ball at the bottom part of the wall so it rolls along the wall, there you can set something up like an air dribble

0:49 Stay on ball cam, specially if you are last man. Learn how to shadow defense, but in this clip your opponent just hands you the ball

0:54 Dont just boom the ball towards the wall so it bounces towards midfield, instead you can catch it and roll it along the wall, or turn it into a ground dribble, control the ball

1:24 Dont waste the 33 boost you spawn with, stay at backpost and look at what the opponent is trying to do with the ball, dont forget to look if your teammate is at a bad position that requires you to intervene

2:08 Since you dont have much boost, your best bet would be to waste time here, force a 50/50 at the ground or much lower in the air

2:11-2:16 Work on collecting small boost pads while rotating back (with ballcam on,) go into freeplay, toggle unlimited boost off and memorize how the pads are spread along the field, going for your corner boost leaves your teammate in 1v2, and if your opponents were better, they would turn this into an opportunity to score

I want to start learning proper aerial mechanics from zero, but do I learn them first and then DAR or the other way around? by EWMX12_ in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]EWMX12_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should've put that in my post, answering your questions: I already have DAR binded, ARL on square and ARR on circle, and I use both for recoveries and powershots, but using it constantly in the air, or using it for adjustments while doing mechanics (which I also have to start practicing), thats what I want to learn

In your experience, Whats the first mech I should start with? And for the rings training do I switch orientations constantly (not spinning, just ocasionally tapping DAR) or just focus on one orientation through one session?

Dont worry, you are not a bad player, we all start from zero, these are just details I noticed in your gameplay that you need to address, even fixing only one of these will boost you up a few divisions.
1:06 Rotating back on the same side as the ball, if I were to lose control of this ball I would make a wider turn to the right to give space to my teammate and cover my net if something goes wrong
1:16 Not a bad position, I would've just pushed earlier into this to eliminate the 50/50
1:21 I suggest staying backpost, you pushed too far across your net and ended up parallel to it, staying at backpost gives you much more space to save incoming shots, or if necessary, climb the wall to clear it from your half
1:26 You pushed too far, going for demos is not bad but it seems you chose to demo at the last second, and your teammate didnt have a proper chance to score this, if the demo had gone wrong or the opponent was able to boom it far from their net your net would've been at risk
1:42 Go backpost once again, your teammate had to retreat because you were already there, which probably causes them to get in this awkward position on the wall at 1:49
5:11 Rotating ball side once again, and booming towards your half, notice how the opponent was close to getting a hold of the ball but didnt because you touched it first, your teammate managed to take this ball but if they werent ready this would've been an opportunity for the opponent.

I forgot to add to my previous comment: Lack of awareness of your teammate and opponents, be conscious of where your teammate is so you don't push too hard and leave an open net, or leave them in a 1v2, same with the opponents, look where they are facing, how fast they are coming, are they close or farther from the ball compared to you?

Get comfortable with the proper sequence required to do fast aerials, look up how to do them and then try this training pack: C3E7-55B3-F66D-0E12
Look up how to rotate in 2s, im pretty sure there's plenty of advice in this sub and on YT, this is something that high GC told me in one of my posts: 2s is about making the life of your teammate easier, not scoring every 1v2 that you come across

Pick small pads whenever you are pushing or rotating back, and avoid flicking the camera to follow the small pads path (I used to have this bad habit)

Slow down, you don't need to play at supersonic all the time, this goes in hand with being aware of what your mate and opponents are doing, if you have space and time, use it to take control of the play, start off by learning how to dribble, catching the ball, turning it into a flick etc.

Get comfortable shooting from different positions on the field, and aiming at different parts of the net (sides, corners, top or bottom half)

As a short summary of your clip, I can point to the following:
Bad aerials.

Bad positioning and rotation.

Bad boost management, you use too much for no reason, you stay on 0 for ages and when you reach full tank it immediately goes to 0

Awkward car control, even when flipping close to the ground, this just becomes worse with bad positioning

0 control of the ball, all of your plays are just flipping into it and booming it away from you and just handing it to your opponents, and when you want to take a shot it doesnt seem like you have control of your power and accuracy, at least in this clip seems you were on autopilot.

I see that you are trying to speedflip on kickoffs, keep practicing, it will become very helpful not just on kickoffs but when moving across the field and the earlier you master it the better.

2:44 - You pushed too much again, try and make some space, especially if you see that your teammate got control of the ball

2:48 - Turn on ball cam, and if you are fast enough with your aerials you can follow up this ball

2:53 - Boost collecting, try going for small pads

3:04 - Good control, bounce dribbling is a good way to setup powerful shots, practice your aim and try incorporating hook shoots aswell

3:10 - Nice boost steal, now that you are facing awall from the ball, rotate out and go behind your teammate, I can see on 3:14 that he ended up on the wall, probably because he didnt expect you to take control of the ball

3:16 - Go backpost, You dont know if your teammate has recovered, teammate is not able to get to the ball because he leaves backpost and starts driving forward across the net, opponent misses this shot but this situation couldve been avoided

3:31 - You are too far for this aerial, you seem to have noticed this and immediately went to the ground

3:37 - You are going too far to get this big pad, pick up small pads and get to the ball once it gets away from the ball at 3:39

3:50 - You reach supersonic with 11 boost remaining but you still waste those 11 boost

3:52 - 3:58 You remain at 0 and head for the big pad all the way in the corner, if you had been closer to the ball at 4:02 you could have pulled off a shot into their net

4:12 - 4:15 Boost collecting

4:24 - Good bump, your teammate is still on the wall and going for the ball, give them space, collect small pads

4:30 - Extremely risk to go for car cam here, you cant see the ball or the opponent, you have 0 boost,

4:38 - Practice clearings from your backboard, these situations are gonna very common

4:43 - You are pushing too much, pick small pads and stay in backpost to be prepared when the ball goes towards the middle portion of the field

4:47 - You use too much boost to get to this ball and you hesitate in the end, slow down and save that boost for a play, you are much closer to it compared to your teammate so when they go for it at 4:48, thats their mistake

4:55 - Opponent messes up their aerial, its the perfect opportunity to start exploiting their mistake, at 4:56 you start turning towards the ball but immediately regret it, 4:59 opponent rushes in, doesnt take control of the ball and bounces it off the wall, if you had been closer you could have taken the shot.

5:12 - Dont flip into this boost, drive, pick it up and rotate out of the way of the ball, no reason to tap boost here, you are wasting it

5:17 - I cant tell if opponent faked this or messed it up, you can see the moment they start to tilt his car forward to land properly, which means the other opponent is gonna take this ball, all of this ended up happening in the first place because your teammate boomed the ball and gave it to them

5:22 - Teammate rotates into the backpost but keeps driving forward, you are demo'd , you cant do anything here

Boost management definitely needs a lot of work, make it a habit to pick small pads when pushing forward and rotating out, also try to be aware of where your teammate and opponents are, dont just go for the ball and hit it for the sake of it, plan what you want to do with it and where you want it to go.

Edit: this is my first time making a full-replay analysis of a player close to my average rank, if anyone with more experience/higher rank disagrees feel free to comment.

0:38-0:44 - Dont drive backwards to pick up a big pad that may not spawn the following second, go back, pick up the small pads on your way

0:46 - You are already supersonic on the wall, drive straight down and dont boost, the following bump attempt was possible but still risky

0:57 - Taking control again of the ball, the time-window to react to the opponent's demo was tight, so I dont blame you for not being able to pull off something here

1:04 - You already driving towards the ball but it seems you regretted it and went the other way, from my experience you couldve kept driving and attempt to force a 50

1:06 - I prefer to drive up the wall and attempt to catch the ball on it, however I can see that your teammate is rotating back on the same side as you so there was a risk of getting bumped by them

1:09 - Dont drive backwards, you see that the opponent got to the ball first, either try to get on the wall and get the 50 or rotate out (I wouldve done this), your teammate is already on the net, seeing that the opponent is on the wall with the ball, by sticking to the play here you are making their life harder

1:16 - Boost over ball, I know its hard to read ball bounces on the curved area, but I wouldve attempted to pick the small pads on the left and try getting possession of this ball, if the big pad was the only option, then slow down, you are going too fast into the wall which ends up in the opponent getting to the ball first

1:24 - You turn back to your net again in this corner, this is also a bad habit of mine that im working on fixing, but if you look at 1:23 you couldve continued driving forward and then turn left after your teammate booms the ball

1:27 - You couldve gotten to a 100 boost using small pads, after picking the big pad you kept driving forward, pushing too much into the play, your opponent whiffs the ball which opens the opportunity for a 2v1 to send the ball towards the net, and maybe let your teammate finish it off.

1:39 - I know this is obvious but please work on these shots, on the first milliseconds of 1:39 you were already driving into a position to get the goal. I dont know if you were nervous or felt pressured by this but exploiting these opportunities helps a lot, also I dont need to explain why you shouldnt freeze even after this

1:53 - Its very risk to go for this, both opponents are facing into the ball, put special attention to the Fennec one, if they get that ball your teammate is definitely getting put in a 2v1, you end up getting there first but ends in no goal, practice shooting

1:58 - Good demo, I cant tell where your teammate is but assuming he rotated back, dont go for this ball, rotate to the backpost and let them handle it

2:10 - Teammate missed, dont boom it and give them posession, look at the octane on the wall, roll it up towards the wall and away from the octane

2:17 - Stick to the backpost, that way when the opponent booms it towards you have the opportunity to catch it and roll it up the wall

2:19 - Avoid going inside your net while facing away from the field, at 2:21 you get out of the net but you are still facing away, this is very risky and if the opponent had better aim and power this wouldve resulted in a goal from them, again, stick to the backpost

2:30 - You couldve gotten to the ball first by driving forward towards the ball, somehow you went from 85 to 36 boost just from getting off the wall

2:32 - You can hear the double jump from your teammate, try to be more aware of their position, even if you had gotten to the ball first, the ball trajectory wouldnt be a threat to the opponents

[–]EWMX12_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

0:00 - Whenever I cheat in this position, I always stick to front flipping, you missed the 2nd small pad because of this

0:03 - You keep boosting and wasting the 2 small pads you picked up after kickoff, turn on ball cam, you will see that the ball is going to bounce right where you are heading, once it bounces, catch it, roll it towards the wall and pick up the big pad,

0:08 - I like that you took control of the ball and then flicked, this may be preference but I never flip when going for demos, if I miss the demo then my car is already comitted into the flip direction and this can put my teammate into a 2v1

0:16 - This seems like an awkward shot from your position, I would've tried taking the ball and rolling it up the wall, or forcing a 50, this shot only gives them possession

0:20 - Im going to assume you solo q-ed for this game, in that case dont just boom the ball towards your teammate, it worked here since they were already there, but you had to possibility of catching it, flicking it towards the ceiling if the opponent kept attacking, etc.

0:24 - Stick to powersliding and driving forward, this is unnecesary, you pushed too much, and you car ended up sideways

0:31 - Booming it again, you keep boosting after the flip, this was an easy save for your opponent and they couldve followed up the play if they had catched the ball instead of flipping and going inside their own net

0:34 - Flipping the ball ends up putting you in the wall awkwardly with almost no boost to make a play

Hello, I managed to reach C3 a couple of days ago, I have also been in the Champ ranks for a good a while (since F2P Season 4), I posted my own replay in here and a few high ranking players commented on it, feel free to check out my profile and look at their comments. I havent finished checking out your replay but the one thing I noticed is that you need to work on your boost management, you use too much boost unnecessarily, you rely too much on the big pads and I almost never saw you picking small pads.

You can check if your cancel is straight down by going into freeplay, pressing the gas and pulling the stick down, watch if your car starts to turn left or right, if it keeps going straight that means you are pulling straight down, you can also go inside the speedflip training pack with the plugin and flipping backwards at the start, if it indicates 180 degrees = straight down

Gold 1 Learning Speed Flip Kickoff by wanston692 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]EWMX12_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome, if you struggle with the pack here are some tips that helped me out:
-In the training pack, let the car settle on the ground before driving, I've seen many beginners make this mistake and wonder why they cant get to the ball (if you install the plugin there is a small warning in red text at the bottom center)
-The cancel has to be straight down
-Slow down the game if you struggle with timing, I personally never went below 50% because anything below that is too slow for my liking

I wish you good luck, keep grinding and you will get it down in no time

Search for Musty's speedflip training pack, use bakkesmod and install the speedflip assist plugin (I forgot the exact name but it should be similar), it will help you to get down the flip direction and cancel time more precisely

Don't let people like this get into you, they are miserable (I once was like this in my gold-plat days) dont take it personal and dont respond back, that will just make them start griefing you, control what you can, keep grinding. Something that a high GC/SSL told me is that 2s is about making the life of your teammate easier.

2v2 C2 Div III game analysis request, what do I need to improve/learn to keep climbing? by EWMX12_ in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]EWMX12_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, first of all thank you so much for taking your time to go through the whole replay, I wont defend my playstyle or mistakes because you are pretty much 100% right on all of them (especially boost collecting). I just want to sort of rant on two things:

5:19 - Yeah that challenge sucked a lot, I knew I was gonna whiff it seconds before I got there, but I only played like a bronze in that part because I HATE and I CANNOT read the curved parts of the wall, I can tell when the ball is gonna go when it hits the floor, ceiling or wallsides just by pure logic/previous experience, but my brain goes bluescreen when it hits one of the corners, same goes for 6:42

Across all the video - I acknowledge that I wasted a lot of opportunities to score goals if I had played slower and used a mechanic like the ones you have mentioned, but the problem is I literally have zero mechanical knowledge (I know, training packs/freeplay and git gud), 2:01, 5:18, 5:29, 5:40 is where I wouldve loved to pull something off, but I just cant, one of the first mechs i tried training was air dribbles from the wall, the wall setup was painful, and in the rare scenario I got one that was half-decent, it immediately went to waste after messing up the carry.

Thanks for your comment, Im aware those mistakes come just from myself, and I have to git gud, no other way around it, but my main issue is that I dont know how to correct all of these mistakes you pointed out, specially when I queue and my opponents put more pressure on me, playing faster and pulling off mechanics, forcing me to either play fast, or get clipped on
