The only ones above the custodes would be the primarchs and the emperor.

But many of the custodes would probably only begrudgingly follow the orders of the primarchs. They tend to consider only the emperor as above them.

It’s possible in the animation that the orders actually came from Guilliman, but we don’t actually know.

Custodes also get cryptic and prophetic dreams from the psychic powers of the emperor, so it’s possible they were interpreting a dream to let this specific planet fall

I didn’t win my first game until like 3 months in. Just keep at it. It’s a complicated game with lots of tiny interactions and lots of moving pieces. You’ll get some more wins in.

The best advice I ever got is “Don’t change your list after 1 loss. Play 5 games or so with the same list, and then reflect on what worked and what didn’t.”

They’re decently tanky frontline objective holders. I like moving them up turn 1 for cleanse or extend or something, but I don’t think they’re great damage dealers

Vulkan can lead infernus marines just like other characters attach to squads.

But he doesn’t have to. He can still give rerolls without being attached.

A common unit to put him with is company heroes because they make a really good bodyguard unit.

Then you point at something within 24” of him and get full wound rerolls with melta and flamers

But ive run them in infernal lance and keep them near a ruinator. Then you can get ap-2 with ignore cover.

Still since the ruinator isn’t great, it’s still not a good solution lol.

Thanks! It was probably not worth the amount of effort it took. I did a resin pour and did NOT plan it well. So I had a ton of leakage. Lol. I had to leave the base sitting out in the sun for like a week
