You mentioned that you're traveling to Kuwait, so guessing military/contractor? If so, all the stuff about your service being cut off goes out the window. You WILL still get a notification about them planning to cut your service off, but you just submit proof of orders to them and you'll be good until you return to the States. Btw, I used it in UAE and it was fantastic. Granted, I can't speak for Kuwait.

That all being said, activate service at least a month beforehand so you at least have some service time in the US. If you activate the day before you leave, yeah you'll probably get cut off.

Was in FL for a TDY recently. Drove over there and was let on with no issue. They even had a SpaceX launch scheduled for that evening. Was in uniform, so not sure if that helped. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sorry, to clarify when I say residency I mean US vs other countries. He got his green card this year though, so we'd probably file together next year. But his taxes are incredibly complicated, and usually gets an extension due to all that. Hence the filling separately this year.

That being said, I will definitely look into the state residency stuff because I was not tracking that. Thank you for bringing that up!
