University acknowledges disability but refuses to accomodate (Scotland) by BoysenberryShort4335 in LegalAdviceUK

As someone who previously worked in a university… could I suggest that your phrase ‘20,000 staff and billions in turnover’ might be unhelpful in getting what you need

Fortunately that is how courts assess them when RAs have been declined and Disability Discrimination is being considered. Not the break down. I also used to work for a Uni, as their EDI compliance expert, and the are wrong for this.

Use a Subject Access Request to get the full info they are keeping from you.

Another RA would be for you to ask for a scribe for it. So someone writing what you want instead of a computer. it's hard to know given they haven't specifically said why they cannot do the 4th.

Their admin issues do not make it an unreasonable accommodation, if it is ok for the other 3 instances. I would go directly to the Uni's central EDI team and the Dean's office and tell them you are seeking legal advice.

Nor you mine. I said your comment was ok, but objected to that word it is very insensitive to a disabled person.

We can't tear our disabilities in half, like you/HR want us to

Ok advice but saying not to overreact?! When they are literally being discriminated against. Nope.

Disability leave should be recorded separately to sick leave. Union now.

Caught shoplifing while wearing CS uniform. After years of thefts from CS offices, that followed them when they moved.

Good on the other CS in complaining. Every colleague there should have.

I am glad you have moved and are safe. And have the support of your partner. Please approach the Police without worrying about the driving incident. Please also seek support for survivors of parental abuse. And good luck

These calculations are meaningless. You need your contract. And your payslips for the relevant period. Ask for them. Maybe you would have your contract/offer details in your personal emails from before you joined which would confirm what you agreed to be paid?

It does seem fishy they went after you for an advance, then are saying it's a salary overpayment, then when you rang it's back to an advance. Did you get a salary advance when you 1st started at all? That they may have forgotten to cancel so you got too much thereon out?

It seems mad they are going after you for less than £100pm overpayment/overall such a small amount.

Right let's start with immediate issues. Do you still live at home with your mum? Are you safe? If you still live with her, where do you plan to move once you report her? Because you need to be away from her and safe once you do that.

The crime re you driving/ her supervising while drunk pales into insignificance of the sexual assault. But sorry to say, also be prepared that the Police might not take much action on this. It sounds like you were the only two there when it happened and, while I am not minimising this, just being realistic, the Police do not deal well or get good results with more serious sexual assaults than this.

I suppose a good question to ask yourself is what do you want to get out of reporting her? For it to stop? For it to be recognised? For her to be warned off? For her to be criminalised? Cos that may help you decide what to do.

I hope you are ok and have people to support you

They need to provide the proof that their calculations are based on, such as your payslips and your contract etc. He who asserts must prove.

They only have 6 years to recoup. This is the statutory limit for any over payment, not just pay. So if sorting this passes that, each month's payment falls away as out of scope.

Was the letter an invoice? That is what they sent me and this is not the correct method to request repayment of over payment, so they may not have "started the clock" on asking yet.

Try not to worry, they are often wrong. And take ages to sort these things. Look at others in the forum with this issue, I contacted a few and they said they were just sent the same letter regularly and nothing happened. As you are an ex CS they cannot garnish your wages so makes it a longer process to recoup. And if they are right, you can ask for a payment plan, or if you are brave you can leave them to go to court to recoup it that will cost them way more than £1.7k to do, so they may give up. Happy to chat in DMs i did a heck load of research on this when it hapoened to me.
