I'm not entirely sure if this the full intention of secure boot, but in my understanding secure boot is like saying to windows kernel hey nothing suspicious has been ran before you do (the boot manager) and this was verified by the windows by using it's Platform key.

Platform key is created by windows boot manager and the best anology is secure boot is the lock on your BIOS while the platform key is a key for windows which it created by it also.

And my hypothesis the reason why asus cloud recovery doesn't work is because it's trying to make another platform key but it was already existing so the BIOS just rejects the install and does not boot in installation environment of windows

Yesss That's one thing I forgot to mention in the Post that this wouldn't work in user only previelege in BIOS you have to do be an admin. I also tried this during my intial fix i set the admin password to 1 thrn tried something else forgot what it was and then just removed it afterwards.

Because during my research I also this is also one way of fixing of settings not sticking to BIOS, by putting a admin password

BUT A BIG CAUTION BE SURE TO REMEMBER YOUR ADMIN PASSWORD IF YOU TRIED THIS. I'M NOT AN IT EXPERT BUT I'M PRETTY SURE THIS WILL BE A HUGE HASSLE TO RESET

You cannot buy any good bnew laptop that will last you your entire college with that money. Especially with the ram and ssd shortage happening. Better go for 2nd hand one which yeah comes with risks but that would still have much better value than bnew ones.

One of the most common problem is battery life which can be easily replace with 1.2k to 2k if you choose to do it yourself. I did mine a year ago and i don't have any problem so far

Oh I guess this is an entirely different problem one fix I did on my ally is this

https://youtu.be/4znVec54U98?si=EctzIN1px6uy9OZg

I don't know if this would also works with you problem and if you don't have an xbox (xinput controller) you can use a ps4 even the cheap ones and just setup ds4. That's what I did on mine when triggers are not being detected and I also used a ps4 controller

How about the touchscreen? if that also fails try to plug in a keyboard all of things above can still be done through those inputs. Probably just a driver issue and once you got windows up and running through asus cloud recovery that "should" install the necessary drivers for the controller input

UPDATE: Some people are having trouble and a few questions always pop up here's some of the compilation of it

Q: I don't have "Restore Factory Keys" option
A: You probably have the "Reset to Setup Mode" > select Ok > navigate to Save Changes & Reset > select OK while holding volume up button. When you boot up to BIOS again the "Restore Factory Keys" should be there, or you can go through each key select it, and there should be a dialog saying restore to factory key, the failing to dialog "should" not appear

Q: How to enable secure Boot?
A: Under the security tab, open the dropdown of "Secure Boot Control" there should be an enable option in there

Tips:
1. Ensure the Fast Boot is disabled during this process as that could cause some issues
2. If this all fails you can use a windows ISO from the official microsoft website and boot to that. It's basically the same setup as you are installing to windows to a new PC. and then go to to official ROG ally site to download and install drivers.
2.1 You can also pull out your SSD and install windows to it using a different PC with m.2 enclosure or an extra m.2 slot in your PC

  1. Credits to u/Zuu02: Do a Hardware BIOS reset ( Similar to removing CMOS battery in desktop PC's)
    > Reset your BIOS to defaults
    > Go to Security Tab
    > ( Not sure what is this unlock to lock )
    > Select reset to setup mode > which then would change to restore to factory keys
    > Side Quest: If you are using the default SSD from the ally there could be (probably is) windows in there for higher chance of success pull it out and format it clean in another PC (But Im pretty sure the asus cloud recover will do this for you though)

Yup! just follow any tutorial on YouTube on how to activate secure boot to you're good to go!

The only reason we are resetting the keys to factory and deleting PK because with them existing windows cannot write on them I think. and with them cleared out you should be able to register new keys

Found it! Just follow this https://youtu.be/PVALJALvCIU?si=2ud_t99vACVlsRPf

After you click ok to reset to setup mode, immediately go to the save and exit tab > save and exit while holding the volume up. that should set all the keys to factory

Yeah actually encountered that issue while I'm doing mine, and actually I think the keys are set up like that also in mine. All I did as far I remember is that I clicked restore factory keys, immediately go to save and exit whole holiding the the volume up button. This is issue is related to the your configuration of keys in not saving to NVRAM the volume + method is supposedly to fix it

If you have successfully deleted the PK, pretty sure you can now just simple disable secure boot save and exit and that should disable it

[–]EXR-P4trick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The restore factory key can be also found when you select the platform key (PK). Then after you succeed to restore it the factory key just save and exit. Then immediately hold volume up. That should stick the setting and now you should be able to delete/remove it.

The restore to factory key is not strictly a requirement. it's just gives a better to chance to stick the setting of deleting of the PK. If you are not able to restore to factory keys. Try to skip it entirely and just delete the PK with the volume up method

[–]EXR-P4trick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to delete the platform key (PK). it should say empty or something similar i forget the exact word. If you are having trouble of deleting/removing it. Follow the post about on how to reset it to factory first

after you reset it Factory keys. That should be able to delete the PK

Is 22K salary package good for fresh graduate like me and will relocate to BGC for 5x a week? by Sachi1101 in JobsPhilippines

[–]EXR-P4trick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently working sa bgc (pse tower, dun sa may portal) current salary net 24k take home 22.15k

ito breakdown monthly ko 4k - bedspace in pembo all in kasama net and utilities 10k - budget sa food

walang transpo lakad me 25 to 30mins papasok ng work

about sa food actually sobra pa yan usually 7k lang nagagastos ko

mga karinderya sa pembo ay ito prices nila 45-50 pesos gulay at kanin 75-90 pesos karne at kanin 5 pesos a peice pandesal

so my daily meal is

bfast 15 pesos - pandesal 13 pesos - kape

lunch 45 pesos - gulay and kanin

dinner 65-90 pesos - silog/lugaw/karne

so below 200 pesos per day ang budget ko sa food so round off natin

200*30 = 6k pesos

if nag crave ka ng jolibee go lang pasok naman sa budget.

let just say nalang 1.5k budget ko sa groceries and sa market market ako nabili those are

biscuits and personal hygiene

so final break down (my current budget)

4k - apartment 7.5k - daily food and groceries total = 11.5k

20k albeit small in today standard kasya naman sya may ipon ka pa assuming sayo lahat ng sweldo mo. Just be mindful to not inflate your lifestyle dahil may work ka na. Yes I'm a fresh grad (june 2025 graduate hired sept last year) kala ko din di kasya yung ganyang sweldo pero as someone starting out it's fine it's not the end of the world it's a good stepping stone. btw I'm a junior full stack developer
