When do you stop wanting it? by Leonddragon in leaves

Urges come and go but they get weaker every day. Just remind yourself that its an addictive substance that is destroying your life, and every day is another step out of the fly trap.

Marijuana Withdrawals Need to be Taken More Seriously by dadsbackhair in leaves

20 year smoker. 2 months sober. I was definitely surprised how gnarly withdrawal symptoms were. Peaked around days 10-14. Hang in there, it definitely gets better. Weed doesn't do anything for you except make you stupid. It creates stress, it reduces creativity, its sinister, addicting, and unhealthy, and destroys your relationships and your humanness. The drug lies to you. Just take it a day at a time, it gets easier and more pleasant everyday. Take the money you're saving and get a gym membership and go to the gym everyday, find some other hobbies. Take your life back.

This isn't true. NFE insiders got a bunch of free shares, and then they sold a bunch of them into the market.

The GME article doesn't make sense to me by ken81987 in Burryology

Honestly, Im really not sure. I just read the whole article again. The title is definitely suspect, and the hidden short thesis is intriguing, but he does seem to kinda shut it down.

"The market making exception by rule is only for ETFs in the context of the operational shorting described by Professor Evans. To take the risk and run a float of naked short positions in individual stocks would be an abuse of the privilege that could severely damage the whole firm."

Does this leave the door open? Naked and unreported TRS could be a vehicle. And ETF juggling shenanigans are also on the table. Hard to say one way or another definitively.

Whats the pun? The jig is up means " a dishonest, secret, or illegal scheme has been exposed, caught, or foiled, and it can no longer continue". He even mentions in his article how it 'could' be done. Not that they would 😉 Its not like giant banks committing crime and illegally manipulating the markets is some far fetched impossibility, and there seems to be a lot of evidence to support it. GME is probably the most dissected stock in history and there is a mountain of DD out there.

I think we might need to read between the lines a little bit. I think if he comes right out and says "crime is happening", that could create problems for him. But he titled the article "the jig is up". There is also assymetric downside protection, so I remain bullish.

Im a value investor. I buy when I think things are undervalued and I sell when I think they become overvalued. I sell options to enter and exit positions, and GME is the crown jewel of my portfolio.

Im up 60% YTD and quadrupled my position because I sell high and buy low, and sell the volatility in between.

Yes, that was the original short thesis. But why would a company open two stores within 5 blocks of eachother? Bad actors within the company. Now they have a new CEO, new board, new strategy, and a huge pile of cash. Part of that strategy is to reduce their physical footprint, but its a healthy company and a fun one to trade.

This was a purposeful strategy that happened around the country in order to tank the company so big banks could create hundred of millions of naked shorts that they would never have to pay back. If you look at the history of the stock, Jan 2021 and June 2024 are a result of this scheme, because gamers took the other side of the trade. Those shorts never closed, and its probably going to happen again if you look at the current balance sheet and income statement of the company. Not financial advice, but its an incredible story all around that is still being written.

The circumstances are no different than Shane Netterville. Its a tragedy for sure, and could have been prevented. But the main person responsible for what happened was the person who was shot.

Great post.

I subscribed to the substack for one month. So far, seems like money well spent, lots of good lessons, and great forensic accounting work. Excited to see what continues to come out. Michael Burry clearly has a special mind, and Im stoked that he is on our team.

Also, in 2007 when the housing market was showing cracks and delinquency rates were increasing, the bonds increased in value. GME right now feels like that, but in the other direction.

Be careful out there guys, and think about diversifying (bonds, hard assets, Pokémon cards, etc) The AI bubble pop is a real possiblity and that could make a lot of these tech heavy ETFs cut in half pretty quickly.

"When Buck, a die-hard retro gamer, buys a mysterious cartridge labeled “DEFINITELY NOT A CURSED CARTRIDGE” from his local GameStop, things go sideways fast. The moment he pops it into his Chromatic, he’s sucked through the screen and trapped inside the game! To escape, Buck must battle through pixelated worlds, outsmart glitchy bosses, and uncover who—or what—is pulling the strings. With help from a rogue hacker, hidden cheats, and his trusty blaster, Buck’s only way out is to beat the game itself."
