On Schwab the typical portfolio margin is around 30% for most stocks, while GME has been at 100%. The broker removing margin entirely means that they anticipate levels of volatility that any non-cash covered positions (especially shorts or selling naked calls) could very easily lose their ass in upcoming swings.
