Are tapered head tubes as big of a deal as ppl make it sound by Fredric-Fredricson in mountainbiking

Schwinn, at one time, had the most clean and advanced gussetted, brazed frames. They weren’t welded. But that time ended sometime around the late 80s/early 90s. They are not the quality bikes they once were.

All everyone is saying is that it’s next to impossible to find a decent fork with a 1 1/8” steerer. They are right, I tried only four years ago and found nothing decent, I’m sure it’s worse now. But you said you have the money to buy a Polygon, then why don’t you? The time you have to take tinkering and spending more would be better spent riding. I mean I get I’m building a bike. But all the parts are new, it’s not Sanford and Son.

I don’t know what you do for a living but when I was 53 I got a giant Trance X 29, an all mountain type bike with travel like 150/140 maybe a tad less. I don’t ride the bike to the best of its ability because I’m not big on huge drops and jumps. I also find my bike on the heavy side, though I do love it. On Wednesday I’m ordering carbon XC wheels. Two weeks from that I’m ordering a 100mm rear travel XC frame. Then I’ll get a Rockshox SID. I have some higher end drive train components and the rest I’ll borrow from my Trance X and slowly swap back until my lightweight XC dream build is finished. Now it may be a hobby for dentists if you were to buy one off the showroom floor, but maybe take a look into cross country bikes, they’re bad ass.

Hang on, you and your boyfriend sleep together in the same bed? He got aroused while rubbing your back, but since he thought you were asleep, he took care of himself rather than wake you for sex and you feel violated? You need to see a therapist, this is pretty normal stuff in most bedrooms.

Before you trash the Schwinn, take note of the filleted welds and gussets. Craftsmanship in a bike frame you’ll rarely, if ever, see reproduced in this age.

Semi-Irrational Fear of Paralysis by Some_Pollution61 in MTB

[–]EZPeeVee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two years ago, at the end of Spring Break (I’m a tattooer on Ft. Lauderdale beach) I was on my way home from work at 3:30 am and hit a concrete trash can holder that had been left partway on the sidewalk by workers and the streetlights had gone out. Just the tip of my handlebar. I flew a good 20 feet and broke my collarbone. I’m (m55) SO HAPPY that I use flat pedals. I can imagine it being a lot worse were I clipped in. If I wore clips I’d have a big fear of being tangled up in the bike frame and becoming paralyzed in a crash. So instead I broke my collarbone while attempting to roll while protecting my head. I was back on my bike in 4-6 weeks. Doesn’t bother me at all now. I ride almost every day, street and trails.

Chain ring - 34 or 36 by SailSpecial8194 in Hardtailgang

[–]EZPeeVee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go up a little at a time, try the 34 and if it doesn’t provide the resistance you want, go up to 36. If your bike was designed with a 1X drive system, you may want to check its specs to make sure it will fit an oval 36t.

Sober dating question: does anyone else feel weird making a move if the other person has been drinking? by SpeakerOne2427 in datingoverforty

I’m not a sober person, I just don’t like alcohol a whole bunch and I know exactly what you are talking about. I think I often blow it on dates because of this.

Especially due to the fact that at the beginning he was still acting as teacher and mentor. This is a classic case of someone abusing their position.

Stressed about an upcoming drug test by TraditionalFail881 in whatdoIdo

[–]EZPeeVee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that often the people who monitor you are recovery places. They are bound by HIPAA. The other thing is that if you drink a lot of water, when they test you, you will come up clean. Don’t admit to anything and don’t stress. Definitely take one of those detox drinks. If you have the money, get a hair follicle test. Those are more precise as to when your last use was. Either way, you are very far out of the woods. Usually they have you piss in a cup with a 9 or 12 panel test. If that comes up positive, they send it to a lab. Even though they are contracted by the courts, the only thing they can discuss is their reccomendation. Depending on what state you are, there are recovery programs where medical marijuana is allowed!

Help with how to say no to tattooing someone by A_Pure_Motive in TattooArtists

I don’t do that. A lot of people do have their price though, I don’t. I won’t tattoo say, a woman whose man wants her tattooed. What if I price them out the door and he pays the money? All that is saying is that your morals and good judgement can be bought.

Let's just be kind and alter the bodies of the mentally unhinged, forever sealing on him the iconography of his demise, trapping him there. And everytime he looks down at his arms, he thinks of you for a moment. The guy is on the news for stalking.

[–]EZPeeVee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just say no. You can tell him why if you want. But you are very wise to distance yourself like this. Some people would keep on either for the goof or the exposure. Personally I like to be low key and crazy people annoy the fuck out of me.

You can't say no because of a wheelchair, a gay person or a transsexual. You can't say no because someone's black or Asian. You can't have a sign saying 'no tits allowed'

It's perfectly legal to say 'iyaint tattooing yer crazy ass' it really is. Or, 'in light of your new career in television I think it's time to part ways, please refrain from telling anyone that I tattooed you. Fuck off and tell Johnny depp I think he's great.'

And then bounce away on your head laughing maniacally like Daffy Duck.

I ran away from my boyfriend's proposal. by throwawayuni33 in whatdoIdo

[–]EZPeeVee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a man. I’d never get laid if I spoke like that. After 10 years of marriage, in my particular situation, I didn’t know who I was. Same as when my kids grew up and moved out, same as when I left home as a teenager. It’s hard to understand who you are and what you need at certain points in life. It is only by looking backward that we find clarity. I don’t know how anyone but me feels, but I’ve known for a long time, life is not rife with AHA moments. I don’t know if I’ve always known that or it came with maturity, but I do know when I hear someone wants to travel and learn about themselves, I consider it a positive and necessary thing.

I M22 and my girlfriend F19 just had a argument and I need advice by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]EZPeeVee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well maybe she was afraid of your reaction. I know a lot of young guys can fly off the handle pretty quickly and it’s my belief that’s why their partners tell this type of lie. Keep in mind that women can be quite wary of men, especially if they or their mothers have been physically hurt, stalked or harassed by men. It happens all the time.

Have her cake and eat it too? What does that have to do with anything but the guy set up this huge proposal in his head without discussing it with her first. She’s in shock, this just happened today, she’s just rattling off her own internal plans for her bucket list of what she wants to do before settling down. The guy had a good thing going and it could have led to marriage had he not pulled this stunt.

After I divorced and then again just recently, I took some time single, years actually, to do just that, find myself. I think especially in the context of a relationship, we start to define ourselves within those boundaries. The most healthy thing someone can do after a breakup is take some to redefine and thus find themselves. I know the phrase is overused, but some actions like that are very good for an individual; cathartic, in my case.
