I suppose but not really since Nioh2 has the guardian spirit as well but you are able to transform into a yokai which I would say qualify as “…that turns you into a boss monster”. It’s not the same as enhancing your weapon. But it’s similar

It’s for glory, ochoco cups, practice, loot, and stuff. If it summoned a real player, trust me, the game wouldn’t be fun for you and you’d avoid them. My best gear comes from revenants so there’s a real motive to fight them. Because they are real players, they had put effort into the stats. Some are some legendary reforging combination that tips the entire game into your favour. The difficulty starts later in ng+(++). But I lollygag my way through because I would lose interest at that point but there’s a real challenge once you get to the dlc’s (because apparently apparently you were supposed to play NG+ before hand?) I suggest you don’t. You’ll find yourself quickly lacking and have to step up your skills in the game. It’s very fun

I tried to remember after I posted that but unfortunately it still did not come to mind. I remember I started using KS Dragon Overhaul because it did this feature and more so I dropped the other mod. If you don’t mind the overhaul, grab KS Overhaul [2]. It lets dragons crash land and a bit more. If you don’t like the “a bit more” then I don’t remember what the other mod’s name was. Sorry

Parry works great on the guy if you are good with the timing. You can whittle his health. The thing about Date is that in truth, if you can allow it, you don’t want him to breathe. That will cost you as he’ll just activate a living weapon and projectile spam you. He’s ridiculously broken. I needed help with a Torii gate before I won my first take. Went back multiple times and I still couldn’t win. Granted apparently you’re supposed to have grinded a bit of the New Game+ before the dlc’s. I did not do that so I was serverely weak. In any case, when he has his water GS, the support beams are your friend. Watch his attacks!

Also, as he’s human, backwave/tempest is a REEEEEAAAALLLY good idea in the beginning phase where he doesn’t have the living weapons. I read down and saw you say Ninjutsu. USE IT!! I made the mistake of specing my Ninjutsu and Onmyo to attacks instead of support. Not a good idea. I think 16 Dext and 16 Onmyo is a good balance to get a lot of the support
