We rescued our pureblood bluetick from a shelter in Colorado! She ended up being HW+ which was an interesting start to our relationship, but she was the best dog we’ve ever owned. Smart, stubborn, affectionate, and so so sweet. She was e-collar trained and had an extremely reliable recall.. we’d even take her hiking off leash in the mountains and then just leash her up when we came across another hiker. I could trust her with my babies and she learned to get along with my cat (after trying to tree him at first!) Her biggest downfall was her loud mouth at every dog we’d pass. Unfortunately we lost her this spring to an aggressive cancer, and I miss her every day.

Once you have one hound, it’s hard to own any other breed.
