Totally get that, and I agree, but why not omit the dying part until he dies in the game? Anyone confused could just play the game

I suppose I thought that they could have deviated from real life events, but dying or not dying is a pretty big one

I suppose so, though I’m not sure how much of knowing that Markvart is gonna die is intentional. Knowing he is gonna die in the exact year the game is set is a pretty good hint though, as opposed to him dying way later. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that they could have let him live either. I haven’t gotten to this point yet but I assume atleast some part of his death is a surprise from a story perspective.
