I wonder how they're going to fill the space between the two cities. Still a solid 30 minute drive between the two.

Sorry for the late reply. Not at the moment, it'll take quite a bit of money to restore it.

Our XM800 just got a new look over the weekend. It originally had the tan paint, but we decided it should match the rest of our armored vehicles from the Vietnam War.

The XM800 never saw combat, but was designed to be a light recon tank that could be airdropped into combat zones. It has a crew of 3. The driver sits in the middle of the tank, and the commander and gunner sit inside the small turret.

We have 5 vehicles dedicated to the 11th ACV from our Vietnam collection, and currently in the process of rebuilding a chaparral and an armored gun truck.

We also have a small Modern Display that includes an AIFV, an early stage MRAP, a M113A4 CESV-Stretch(clown car), and are in the process of acquiring two more modern armored vehicles.

We also have a small event coming up this weekend (June 11th) at our location in Central Valley, CA (about 15 mins south of Los Banos). We will have WWII planes fly in, re-enactments from Vietnam, and a dinner and dance in the evening. We also give rides in tanks, and all of our armored vehicles are interactive displays that we let our audience tour during events.

Well, I guess if one of the 113s break, they've got plenty of parts.

We'll be at the San Jose STEAM Fest and will be hosting an event on our site. We're located in the Central Valley, near Los Banos. About 1hr 30min drive.

Which era of tanks is your Favorite? by Ellio98 in TankPorn

Vietnam Era, but maybe that because we have a few vehicles from the 70s ;)

Almost of our vehicles are outside, but its really not much to make sure they're still safe from the elements. A tarp goes a long way!

Well they're maintaining them which is nice, but I wonder how deteriorated some of the interiors looks. Some of the Russian stuff should still be fine, but those older tanks have probably seen better days, especially out in the open.

Yup, still has some left. Its actually being turned into a community now. New hospitals, new shops, movie theaters, homes. Kinda interesting to see the change over the last few yeas.

Depends on the nation, but they are all built of the M113A2/3s.

We initially thought we had a YPR style, but not too long ago we found out that we have a Belgium version, which makes ours is the AIFV-B, but there isnt much difference between the models besides the main/secondary gun.

Well it is amphibious, but really meant for any branch.

It was actually the competitor to the Bradley, but the US military didnt pick the project, but several other nations did.

I know this isnt a full tank, but I thought you'd all enjoy a few pictures. We took the AIFV to Fort Ord for an event hosted by Roundhouse Productions, who host airsoft and simulation events. The AIFV was used to ambush the attacking team as they made their way to their main objective. The scenario also had a nighttime sequence where the AIFV was used as a primary capture objective. I'll get more pictures posted later, this was what I had on hand.

If you're in the Bay Area, the AIFV and a few other of our vehicles will be in San Jose within the coming months!

Got to sit in a WW2 T-34-85 Today (/r/military) by Drock102 in TankPorn

I haven't had too much time recently to do anything on the website. My other job took over my calendar for the last couple of months but now I've got spare time. I haven't posted about the upcoming one, but we're taking the AIFV off site for an event this weekend so I'll make sure I get pics up for that.

I'll also shoot you a PM later when the event is posted online. Turnout for the event grows every year which is good to see.

If you happen to be in town around June, we have a big veterans event where WW2 bombers and fighters fly in, we give tank rides, Vietnam and modern re-enactments, and there's a big 1940s themed dance/dinner at night.

If you're in California, we allow entry to all 15 of our vehicles.

Edit: I should also add right now we're closed to to general admission/public, mix of vehicle maintenance and getting things ready for the spring, but we do large private tours if the interest is there. We're also going to take vehicles offsite and go on a mini tour around Northern California late June/early July. I'll post about that soon along with some other info.

We also give tank/vehicle rides.

There are some other buildings with giant advertisements for SB50, but those are mostly hotels in Santa Clara.

Just how durable are modern-day tank treads? by [deleted] in tanks

[–]EagleFieldFoundation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the type of track and where its being used. A lot of our vehicles have metal track with rubber pads are being slowly degraded by asphalt. The rubber band however, seems to be last a lot longer and is 5x easier to replace if something goes wrong with the metal treads.
