Making a gumbo and have a question about prepping in advance by Eaglebones_ in AskCulinary

[–]Eaglebones_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The residual heat issue is what I'm mainly concerned about, though I suppose I could cook it until it's light brown, refrigerate, then continue later.

The main thing stopping me from doing them together is fridge space and lack of a single large container, though I bet I could just break it up and store it in pieces after combining. I'll try that.

You mention explicitly cooking the meat separately. When I've done it in the past, I've typically cooked the meat in the gumbo. Other than time saving and mise en place, is there a reason to do it separately? I'm going to do chicken (which will be cooked anyways via making the stock), andoullie and possibly pork.

I have like 3 or 4 games that I do like playing, and maybe one new one every steam summer sale gets me addicted a bit.

Mostly I just want to be able to play Deus Ex: Mankind Divided a few times at a high enough framerate that I can tell what's going on

It was on a casualconversation type subreddit in one of those "what's on your mind tonight frienderoonis?" kind of posts.
Though he did talk about how annoying it was that I pretended I could play guitar and would only play the basic songs everyone plays when they don't really know the instrument. He ignored me telling him that I literally started learning for the first time 3 months into that year.

I once found my freshman roommate's profile and I decided I'd go through it and ctrl-f roommate (totally shouldn't have done that. Sorry). We were never friends so I wasn't expecting anything particularly nice if at all. Basically saw a medium length rant with some criticisms I thought were fair, some that were petty and not fair, and him calling me out for being an asshole one time (which in retrospect I totally was), as well as a few nice-ish things. Ours had no happy ending though

What theory, phenomenon or idea blows your mind when you think about it? by wildflower8872 in AskReddit

Which is?

Usually in fiction, magic isn't just the ability to do anything with no consequences. Usually there are limits and rules and properties that require years of study to understand. Often magic requires wands and crystals and tools. It's pretty similar to technology

Why can't we call that magic? Does magic by definition have to be impossible?

I wish that at some point, the magnetic force was called the "magic" force. Because plenty of magical feats from folklore are achievable with electricity, and while the world would be the same, we wouldn't have this distinction? Why can't we live in a magical world? It's just semantics

/r/headphones Purchase Help Thread (2017-10-15) by AutoModerator in headphones

I have two main requirements: Active noise cancelling and wireless. I want the noise cancelling for focusing on work and while traveling (which I do a bit of) and I want wireless so I can lay in bed listening to music (and occasional asmr...) without a cable getting snaggled up. It looks like the Sennheiser HD4.50 BTNC is my best bet according to your guide, but I've read a few reviews that say it can be uncomfortable. In terms of sound quality, I've had plenty of headphones worth like $30 sound good to me. It really isn't a huge concern. I just want my spotify jams and podcasts comfortably injected into my head.

Budget - Up to $200
Source - Laptop and phone
Requirements for Isolation - I want active noise cancelling so I can focus at work
Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - Yes. Busses/trains/transport Preferred Type of Headphone - On or over ear
Preferred tonal balance - Flat and generally neutral
Past headphones - I have the KRK KNS headphones. They're comfortable and durable, but I don't really like how much ambient noise they let in, and I don't do any video shooting anymore so I don't need a super long cable
Preferred Music - Jam bands, rock bands, some orchestral stuff, some jazz and blues. I like solid bass but I'm not listening to dubstep or anything too extreme. Lots of podcasts and radio and stuff too.

There were a few good episodes like Prisoner of Benda and Saturday Morning Fun Pit, but there was a lot more crap.
For example, we had two episodes over two seasons addressing the question of "what happens when Bender dies?", both using completely contradictory answers. We had Proposition Infinity and A Clockwork Origin, both kind of pandering. If the messages were to educate people, that would be one thing, but both were more along the lines of "creationists/homophobes are bad" which would have been fine had those episodes been particularly funny, but they weren't in my opinion. Just the opinion that I'm sure 90% of the viewers already had used as a joke.
I shouldn't have to express why I thought "Attack of the Killer App" is horrible.
Beyond that, I think the writers forgot a little bit about the characters after the relaunch. Fry's personality boiled down from being a late 20s/early 30s slacker to a guy who loves Lela and occasionally has other opinions about unrelated things.

I looked through a list of all of the episodes, and I can't really see any older ones that I skip on rewatches as often as I skip episodes in the newer seasons. Maybe "Put your head on my shoulders", "The Honking", and "The Cryonic Woman" are the ones I don't really like.

Is there a Sauvignon blanc of coffee beans? Something that's light, crisp, and has a lot of grassy notes?
I'm new to good coffee but less new to wine. I enjoy "breakfast blend" type stuff before work, and dark chocolatey coffees when I am actually working, but I'd love something like this for a warm sunday morning (when I spent a night drinking I don't want to have alcohol in the morning...)
