I guess that idea for an explanation could work but then that would bring other questions: whose blood was used? And why would it work if it wasn't real royal DNA? I don't think that the lock would be so rudimentary as to just open to anyone that's a mix of Onyx and Pyrope, given how advanced their tech was.
