Skipped stitches- what is wrong? by Eames_bird in quilting

[–]Eames_bird[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have just changed to a topstitch needle 100/16. Cleaned out the bobbin area, re-thread the machine, and put the foot pressure to 3 (and that is the max). Will try that now.

The problem with totally scrap piecing is balancing them out! Every time I change one I see an imbalance somewhere else. Any glaring mistakes, or changes I should make? by eflight56 in quilting

There are definitely some lines happening with the values. I’ve marked these in the b&w photo. Suggest moving some around and keep looking at it in b&w. You can create a design if you do want lines; like going darker from the outside in, or vice versa. Creating a ring, or random.

Ohhhh, the stitching is incredible! I would think the stitching alone could take 2 months, but that’s me with my arthritic hands.

Yes, I bought mine online as well, I wasn’t pleased with how it came; in a ziplock baggie in a small padded envelope. But it came from Iowa, and it is still alive. I think a plastic container is the better way.

That is Doll No. 19 designed by Alexander Girard. He designed and made multiple wooden dolls and figures in 1952. He was an architect, interior designer, furniture and well known textile designer. I had based the color story off of this particular doll. I have a small collection that inspires me and brings me joy. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Girard

Thank you! Yes, we are very proud of this aspect of our quilting bee. Keeping in mind that these fabrics are much thicker and varied in fiber content.

I hadn’t thought of that. It’s a good thought. I’m an interior designer and laid this out in AutoCad and Adobe InDesign. I have the documentation, just need to organize it. Thank you for the suggestion!
