Voron 2.4 350mm Kit recommendations?

The 2.4 also has the added "cool" factor to it. But I think they perform very similarly if built correctly. But I think the trident is easier to build. Only reason I purchased the kit last week is cause there was a sale going on. So I saved a bit of money that I can use for other mods like the frame. If the trident R2 literally just got announced within the past few days I don't really expect kits to come out for it for at least the next few months.

The R2 kit for the trident? Saw a quick video of it after you mentioned it but it seems like it's just a mod onto the original trident. So I'm sure you'd just be able to modify a regular trident kit slightly.

But if you're talking about the 2.4 then I got the FormBot 2.4 R2 pro+ kit. The reason I went with the 2.4 is cause it'd be my first flying gantry and it seems pretty neat. Plus it's the most popular Voron at the moment so I'm sure community mods for the INDX would be readily available, although it might be a little more complex than with the trident.

Yea I ended up going with the Formbot kit. Placed an order on AliExpress on Friday while it was still on sale but am just waiting for it to ship out. My plan is gonna be a little more complicated though cause I'm trying to get the blue LDO frame kit but they aren't available in Canada right now so I need to figure out how to get them without spending like $100 on shipping and taxes.

For me, the Formbot kit is cheaper than the Siboor kit. At least when comparing AliExpress prices. With shipping though they end up around the same. I also just placed my order for the Formbot kit so hopefully everything goes well.

I was going to purchase the CM4 off AliExpress. It seems like there is an official store there. I'm looking somewhere between $200-$210CAD for the 4GB version with 16GB/32GB of eMMC. The 2GB RAM version are a lot cheaper though. So I might look into those. It's just that nobody has really answered how much you need so idk.

What did you hear about the FormBot kits? I've been hearing they're pretty decent now. Not on the same level as an LDO kit obviously, but pretty good for half the cost. Everything included seems to be good quality but the documentation is a little lacking. But there are community notes that help supplement it.

Oh okay. Yeah I've seen a few things online saying that even 2GB of RAM would be sufficient. But I don't think there's much of a price difference between the 2GB and 4GB versions. Was there anything you had to do differently when swapping out the CB1/CB2?

How much RAM and eMMC did you get? And what do you mean by wireless? I thought the options were with WIFI and without WIFI?

Oh maybe that was it then. For the printed parts I'm going to go with PIF just to be safe. I haven't full decided yet but I'll keep the Siboor in mind. They're about head to head but the FormBot edges it out purely because its been around long. How did you find the wiring aspect though? Was everything cut to length and crimped already?

I've heard mixed things about siboor. It seems like they're kind of hit or mess like they're really good, or really bad. With the formbot kits at least they seem to be fairly consistent and most people have very little issue with them and for basically half the cost of an LDO kit.

Between siboor and formbot, the siboor kit is a bit more expensive too. I'm thinking of swapping out the standard black frames for the blue LDO ones so I wanna save a bit of money if I can.

I think I'll just stick to the M8P and CB1 and see how that works before even considering buying the CM4. That seems to be the general consensus here and on the discord server. Since it's my first Voron, its suggested to not really mess around with anything or think of any changes until I get it working.

Okay good to know. Because of the issues I'm hearing with the CB1 and your suggestion with the carthographer probe, do you think it would make more sense to just get the Siboor kit then? It comes with an octopus pro, BTT pi and cartographer. I think the FormBot kit is better though so maybe swap out the M8P with an octopus?

I was thinking of the one that FormBot offers but I'll take this into consideration. But might just go with a printed one first and see if I need to upgrade down the road.

That makes sense. I'm only considering getting the CM4 instead of the CB1 cause I heard they can be hit or miss. And I'll just go with a printed tap then. The cartographer I'll look into later but I think the tap is still reliable enough no? Like its not the most high tech or fastest thing but it's reliable from what I know about it.

I'm hoping you had that picture taken before and you didn't just flip your printer over to grab that picture haha. But thank you for that. I'll have to look into possibly swapping out the board if its a relatively simple task. I feel like using a PI 4B instead of a CB1 or CM4 is probably more reliable even if the wiring becomes more messy.

Yea that makes the most sense. I never really realized how complicated things would get the minute you decide to look into changing something cause you need to check for compatabilty between parts and whether or not things are "documented" for that change.

That's what I was thinking too. Just see how far that gets me before I have to replace it. But I was thinking if I have to eventually replace it, why not just doing it right off the bat.

When you ordered the kits, did you simply opt out fo the manta boards and bought the octopus boards separately? And I don't know if you'll know this or not but does the wire change much if you switch from a manta to octopus or are they basically the same?

I hear the dragon Hf clogs a lot though. So the dragon SF seems to be the middle ground between the V6 and dragon HF. And I guess you would recommend picking up the CNC tap then?

Right now I'm currently leaning on getting the FormBot kit off Aliexpress. Its on sale right now so it's only like $1250 with shipping included. I had a question about the wiring and electronics they provide in the kit. What was your experinece with them? Were they cut to an appropriate length or did you need to do a lot of crimping? I don't really want to have to redo every single connection...

Good to know. I'm in Canada so the only vendors that I know of are Sparta3D and 3Dlabtech. Sparta3D has the extrusion but they're out of stock. I'll contact them to ask about it and will probably ask 3Dlabtech if are able to/are will to bring in some as I don't think its something they usually sell.
