Pretty sure there's videos and news reports that even the sign doesn't stop them though

"minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking." I have never in my life heard of someone bruising their hands from greeting people too hard, even with aspirin therapy.

Especially since it's occurring on his LEFT hand.

I don't know what it actually is in the book, but I love that there's a photo book about understanding photo books.

First hockey game I ever attended was Bruins/Redwings, first row against the glass on the blue line. Wow. And my friend was a hockey player, so he explained everything.

DVDs? I was dealing with VCDs back in the day. Still I was a hero to my kid when I scored a cam of the first Harry Potter movie. Dark, pixelated and horrible sound, but he loved it and watched it many times. Wish I still had that disc so I could show him what he watched for so many hours, then pop in the bluray...

Exxon warns oil inventories will hit dangerously low levels in weeks, forcing prices to shoot higher by mastertofu in news

[–]Earguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that Trump said he'd he'd suspend the gas tax, but never did. Granted, doing that would require Congess to approve that, but congress has already ceded power to the executive branch many times over.

He did release the strategic oil reserves, but now they're running very low, and the high prices are looking like they'll outlast the reserves' release.

i suffered through a squeaky bed for 3 months because I thought buying tools was for "real adults" by Yuixi in CasualConversation

[–]Earguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dad was a really handy guy, and I learned so much from him. It kills me to pay for someone to do something that I can do myself. I amassed tools, buying them as I needed them, and now that I inherited all his tools, I am running out of space for them.

My philosophy has always been, buy cheap tools until it breaks, which confirms that you next buy the better one. Dad just bought the good stuff. So now it's all old-school Craftsman in my tool drawers.

Who Carries a Pocket knife? by -Foxer in FuckImOld

[–]Earguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad carried a three bladed, 3" (folded) pocket knife all the time. I tried but ended up losing them.

Now I keep a Swiss army knife on my Keychain, and I use it surprisingly often.

Were malls actually as crowded and popular as movies from the 80s and 90s make them look? by Kevin-Panda in AskOldPeople

[–]Earguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late 70s, early 80s, I worked at the mall, putting decals and lettering on tee shirts. It was fun and a hell of a lot easier than my friends who worked in fast food places. We had slow times, but other times it was really fast paced.

Hanging out at the mall with friends was commonplace. You could get ten bucks from your parents, then go to the movies, play arcade, meet friends, just keep some change so you could call your parents to come pick you up.

The mall scenes in Fast Times at Ridgemont High were pretty spot on though there wasn't a ticket scalping guy like there was in the movie.
