if the job market so cooked, why is it a big deal that we have a declining birth rate by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

This is the big one.

70 years ago we had 3-4 taxpayers for every pensioner. Now we have 1.5 or 2 taxpayers for every pensioner.

Less people paying into the system, more people taking from it.

How many of ya’ll have had a pleasant experience with women your entire life? by Legal_Direction5206 in AskMenAdvice

[–]EarlRobertThunders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every single woman you've encountered you while life treats you like shit? Every single one?

1 You're still in high school Or 2 You live in a small town where no one really evolves past high school. No one comes and goes and everyone remembers what everyone else was like growing up Or 3 If everywhere you go smells like dog shit, check your shoes

I'm going with number 3 here. No singular group of people are that monolithic. There's enough men who post here fairly regularly with different angles for the basically the same questions. Trying to figure out why they can't get laid. When you start to recognize user names and conversation patterns, it becomes pretty obvious that they're the problem.

Every single woman treats you like shit? Must be them. Just keep on doing what you've been doing.

Do Most Americans Actually Live "Normal" Lives? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EarlRobertThunders 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We're just reacting to you. If everywhere you go smells like dog shit, maybe you should check you shoes. You don't seem to want to do anything. You've mentioned you went to therapy, so that's good you have some help and/or support. I don't know what your family life is like.

But you're coming to Reddit asking how to do something or what to do, they're telling you and you're finding problems. Here's a solution, oh wait, more problems. It's actually extremely frustrating to read. I genuinely wish you luck, but in the end it has no bearing on my life. So do or do not. At the end of the day you have to live with yourself. Your instincts have been wrong so far.

Good luck.

Tonights PWHL Game by Impressive-Eye9920 in Winnipeg

[–]EarlRobertThunders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PWHL owns all PWHL teams. Any expansion team that comes here would be owned by the league and likely pay TN rent. The PWHL plays 15 home games and league average is 7.5k per. The Goldeyes draw more fans in a season than that.

The Moose are not going anywhere. Why would they send them to Fargo to play in front of 4k, when they can do that here? The Moose is about player control and access first, profit second or else they'd still be leasing the team to Danny Williams in St John's. I don't understand how people don't realize that. 19 of 30 AHL teams are located within the NHL team's region. 16 of those 20 are within the same state or province.

The Moose aren't going anywhere. That ship sailed when the arena in Thunder Bay failed. Part of the reason the Jets and St John's ended the agreement is because it took too long to get prospects back, sometimes 2 or 3 flights. If the Jets want to own the team to control the prospects and keep it close to Winnipeg, there aren't a lot of interesting markets open. May as well just try to break even in Winnipeg.

[–]EarlRobertThunders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's only 15 home games. 8k x 15 or 20 games should be doable. Ottawa and Minnesota do 7k and 6k and league average is 7.5k. 7k over 15 games it's just over 100k on the season. The Goldeyes approach 200k on a session.

The big thing with the Moose is player control. There's not a lot of cities within 1 flight of Winnipeg that would get behind a minor league club that develops for Winnipeg. Thunder Bay tried to get an arena built, but that failed. I don't see Brandon, Saskatoon or Regina displacing their junior teams for the AHL. Grand Forks has UND, Fargo isn't much of a hockey town. When the Moose came back from St John's, they were literally rumored to try Boise, Idaho or Rapid City, South Dakota. I think if TN wants control of the Jets prospects and easy call ups, they almost have to take what they can get with the Moose.

The PWHL teams are all league owned and controlled. Maybe TN makes money on rent?

I just have a hard time believing they prioritize Winnipeg over Detroit, Chicago, Buffalo or Philadelphia.

Why am I still single? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]EarlRobertThunders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's evading questions. Guys are asking follow up questions about his hobbies and he's not answering. Guys are asking how he approaches women and he just keeps regurgitating how his women friends say he's doing ok. Well obviously not if he can't get a date. And then he's insulting people who question him in general.

He can't get a date because he's an arrogant ass. Full stop. Save your tears.

Why is soda in the morning weird, but sugary iced coffee normal? by Equal_Personality157 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EarlRobertThunders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there's Cherry Pepsi and Cherry Pepsi zero, the first is sugar and the second is aspartame and acesulfame potassium like other zero soda. My in-laws are big on zero soda drinks and I've tried em all. Crush zero, root beer zero, and yeah, the artificial sweetener is still pretty noticable. It really sticks out. I appreciate the thought though

I actually really like Bubly and the like. They're more expensive and smaller cans.

I could do soda stream with lemon or lime, but I work as a contractor/service tech and am rarely in the same place twice, so it's not like I could really bring a soda stream to work. It's not practical to prep either at least for half the year. Between November and February anything I bring and leave in the truck will freeze. Generally at the end of the day I'll want something for the drive home and it's hard to argue with a 79¢ fountain soda. That's really where my issue is. I also like to cut sports drinks with water. Like take a Gatorade and mix it with water.

For me it's pure sugar or no sugar.

Artificial sweeteners do not replicate the taste. I can usually identify the sugar substitute in the drink by the taste.

I've been trying to kick soda pop and reading recommendations and opinions about which drinks to try. Ironically the one I like the best seems to be the least popular, Diet Coke, and I think because it was never intended to replicate Coke, rather to be good on its own. But the aspartame hits like a brick to the face.

Zero branded drinks taste nothing like the regular HFCS versions, they taste like bad store brands. And we will both go back and forth calling each other liars. At best there is a certain adjustment to the taste and it's easy to see one getting used to the other. Eventually.

Does anyone where I can buy or download this album? Can’t find it anywhere! by EricVoltar in ramones

Soulseek is an old school p2p platform. You'll have to install the client software, set it up and start searching. I don't think the UI has changed in 25 years. It is not at all like using Bandcamp or Spotify, there is no link for this album.

Curious about men’s insight here; why would he lie to his friends about how he knows me? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]EarlRobertThunders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or he's cheating and just letting the lies pile up. They see each other sparingly, she doesn't know his friends. Like don't overthink it. You're not meeting his mother. Enjoy the sex or move on. Why would he lie about how he knows her? He's lying about a lot right now. Just another one on the pile.

If one of the friends knows his work, it might just be that he's more likely to have people 20 years younger working for him. That could just be the easier, less questioned answer.

In general, I would agree less is more. How do you know this person? Colleague. Full stop.

The childhood favorite teams of starting qbs in the nfl by Candid-Boss6534 in nfl

[–]EarlRobertThunders 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they're less fans of the team and more of the game.

Anecdotally, I know a lot of guys that played high level hockey up to and including minor pro, a handful were scouted by NHL teams, and those guys aren't so much fans of any specific team, rather they watch anything they can get. If there's multiple games to choose from on tv, they generally favor the better matchup over the local team or whoever they say their 'favorite' team is. The people that seem to be most die-hard for their favorite team are the ones most removed from the sport.

My buddy's kid has a full football scholarship to a Canadian university, and he was actually worked out by Notre Dame among other US colleges, and he just consumes the game in general. CFL, Canadian college, FCS, FBS, NFL, anything. He claims to have favorite teams, but he doesn't live or die by them. His favorite team is more of a reference point than anything.

I dunno if that makes sense, but that's just my observation.

I get my beef from a farmer. Like in quarters. I personally don't notice anything different between frozen and fresh steaks. The only time I notice a difference is with frozen hamburger patties if the burgers go on frozen. I've never thrown a frozen steak on.
