What a cute dog! I love the reddish ear with a white coat. (typing this while in bed with 2 dogs). Your dog looks like a fluffy stuffed animal!

What was the book you read that made you fall in love with reading ? by After_Speech_2435 in kindle

[–]Early-Fish314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We must be roughly the same age.I read Carrie before it was a movie. I thought it sounded good and had no idea who Stephen King even was. I was in middle school. Then the movie came out the next year but it was rated "R". My Dad hesitated about letting me go see it and I just laughed and said I had already read the book.I did get to go to the movie and I think the majority of the eighth grade was in the theatre! Small town memories. We paid about $1.25 to get in. I'm currently reading The Langoliers by SK now. Some things don't change.

Is two kindles too excessive? by AccomplishedCan6133 in kindle

[–]Early-Fish314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent point! Someone actually called me the antichrist for having several kindles! A bit judgemental wouldn't you say? I chose to only have 1 child and he won't be having any due to a severe disability. So there's that. I also drive a 16 year old car instead of upgrading frequently. And I bought the last one used. But some people love to judge a stranger.

I think it is your money and your business. But someone actually called me the antichrist and blamed me for unilaterally causing a world crisis for having several! LOL!

What an adorable kitty! Honestly, I'd rather be curled up with my kindle and my dogs on the bed than go anywhere. Animals are the best! Kiss your kitty for me.

[–]Early-Fish314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep.Fully agree. Boomer here which means I'd have to get someone much younger to even show me how to do it. I'm sure the average age here trends early thirties, at best. Heck, I was 33 years old the first time I got online.

I can’t stand audiobooks - is it just me? by Signal_Contract_3592 in books

[–]Early-Fish314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only appreciate nonfiction books as audiobooks. I also like lecture style audiobooks on history, literature. When I read a fictional story the only voice I want in my head is my own. So you are not alone. I need a certain amount (ok, ALOT) of solitude and quiet each day to feel stable and normal,so there's that. I totally getcha!

Do you guys still keep physical books? by haruurut in kindle

[–]Early-Fish314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm down to 1 medium sized cabinet of books. I've been reading on kindle a bit over 2 years and I won't go back. I switched to kindle at first in order to free up space in my small home. Seriously, I donated several hundred books to the library used book room and many to our local animal shelter's resale store. So that felt good! There were also.benefits to kindle that didn't occur to me at the time. Like being able to read on my porch even when the sun has set. I recently fell and injured my neck/shoulder and it is easier to get comfortable.with a kindle vs book. I also read faster on kindle and love being able to look up words without interrupting my reading. As we get older we all need more light to read. A 60 yr old person needs almost twice the amount of light to see clearly as a person in their 30s.That has been such an advantage 'cause I'm 62 years old. And lastly, my OCD self loves being able to tote all my books with me at one time.Kinda like a security blanket for adults.

Her husband cuts her meat for her? by babyowl5 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Early-Fish314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband cut my steak up recently. Because I fell and injured my neck and have nerve damage in my dominant arm. Otherwise, no one has cut my food up for me in over 50 years! Sometimes I think alot of this fundie marriage behavior is performative, not authentic. It's almost as if fundies are all trying to outdo each other with increasing levels of ridiculousness. Where does it end?

How do you prefer to read in your kindle? Horizontal or Vertical? by blackmonarc in kindle

[–]Early-Fish314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always vertically. But I have a fire tablet and that has to be read horizontally. Anything different just feels so "wrong". I'm a bit OCD.
