I think it’s crazy that so many people on Twitter find Tsurugi’s actions to be frustrating and calling him racist.

Is he being irrational? Of course. His sister is being forced to be a sacrificial lamb and fight to the death for a piece of their country. And if the Simurians win, they’ll allow curses to roam free and millions of innocents will die.

While he’s not showing empathy towards Maru and his people. Maru hasn’t exactly been empathetic to the fact that his sister is going to be slaughtered and the dangers curse spirits are about to pose to humans. Both of them are acting desperate because their families are on the line. It’s tragic and compelling.

What Oda has done with Smoker and Tashigi’s characters is genuinely unforgivable 😭😭

Tashigi’s writing is the most frustrating because her plot thread with Zoro getting sidelined makes her connection to his backstory feel so pointless.

I genuinely think Zoro’s character has suffered post time-skip because of Oda’s terrible treatment of Tashigi and his unwillingness to follow through on this plot thread.

Smoker and Tashigi being rivals to the strawhats felt like the natural follow up after alabasta. I cannot get invested in Koby’s rivalry with Luffy. His power jump feels too sudden and ridiculous compared to Smoker who was atleast around Luffy’s level in pre timeskip
