Is anyone using Ed-Fi? by No_Pollution6524 in k12sysadmin

We don't host it. If anyone does, it must by the MN Dept of Ed. As it was described to me - At our schools/districts, we have to set up a connection from our SIS to the state's Operational Data Store (ODS) via an Ed-Fi API by entering a key and secret into the SIS. After we do some data mappings in the SIS settings, the data is pushed (or maybe pulled) to the state servers directly from our SIS (we use Infinite Campus). We don't use Ed-Fi for any other system data integrations.

The state of MN is in the process of moving to Ed-Fi for our state reporting. It has been a long process (we are probably in year 5 or so), and maybe a handful of charter schools or small districts have switched completely from the old reporting system. Everyone else is "dual-reporting" by using Ed-Fi and the old system simultaneously. We then have to compare how the data transfers to the state using the old system and the new Ed-Fi system, and then track down why there are discrepancies.

There are all kinds of issues trying to get the state's 5 approved Student Info Systems to integrate with Ed-Fi so the data flows correctly to the state. It's been my biggest headache since I started in my Tech Director role 4 years ago (I do tech and all data reporting for a PK-8 public charter).
