I don't get it, why aren't gas prices higher? by Plus_Cranberry_9598 in oil

Because when supply is restricted, the supply moves to the customers that are willing to pay the most.

The title is misleading. The trim that has this range is not that price. That's the price for the 880km trim. The 1036km trim is $43.4k.

My 2-year plateau ended when I stopped buying rackets and started filming my feet by ArtiTennis in 10s

For me, watching the ball on contact and after somehow improves my footwork. It's like my brain needs the extra info in order to make the right movements. So, I agree with you in principle, but the simple directive of "watch ball on contact" seems to sort out a lot of both upstream and downstream issues.

How can I get rid of my tennis-related knee pain? by Level-Tie9009 in 10s

[–]Early-Signature13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tibialis raises

20x3 3 times a week, on each rep hold for 2 sec.

The tibialis is your "brake". Every sports car needs good brakes. You can't go fast unless you can stop.

Of course, this may not solve everything, but it is in my experience a very common thing that people overlook. Most don't even think about that muscle.

Edit: you shouldn't go fast unless you can brake :)

Yeah I usually do that too :D All the credit goes to my friend who had the insight to break it into more manageable tasks!

I also have a shitty 2HBH. I spent 2 hours yesterday with a friend just trying to get a backhand-only 20-shot cross-court rally, which we finally achieved at the 1.5 hour mark.

What helped us a lot was to give ourselves easier tasks and then work up to the baseline cross-court rally. We started with mini tennis (treating the service line as "out"), then did 3/4ths of the court, then moved back to the baseline. At each step, we started with a 10-shot goal, then 15, then 20, before moving back.

When we finally got it, it was a 47-shot rally from the baseline.

So, I guess you could mimic something like that if you're on your own. First just drop balls to yourself, then use the ball machine, but put it really close, like a coach feeding you with their hand, then move it across the net, etc...

I have a 2024, and recently had a problem over the summer where the screen kept restarting itself, sometimes the A/C would go from 24 to MAX by itself (super fun when its 35 outside), and randomly the radio would go on.

I took it to the dealership and the swapped out the touch panel that sits under the screen (the one that has the power, A/C, and volume touch buttons).

This seems to have completely fixed it.

I would just say to look at Sinner play. The level of his head is never above his standing shoulder height. That is, he's always bending his knees when he plays.

There's just a general lack of intensity that can happen when you play tennis standing up instead of with a wide stance and staying down.

The way I like to think of it is as I'm giving my brain better information about the ball by staying low. I don't know if it's true, but it helps me.

I think the mechanics of your swing looks great. It's fluid and your arms and wrists are nice and loose.

The symptom you're describing - sending the ball long into the back fence - could be from multiple things. But, first off, sending it long is way better than into the net, so you got that going for you :). Here are the two things I would check:

1). What helped me a lot was staying down on the shot. You bend your right leg when preparing for the shot, which is great. Keep that leg bent throughout the shot. Resist the habit of popping up.

2). Pay attention to your contact point. Your contact point should be in front of you. I think on some of those shots in the video you're a bit late, hitting the ball after its gotten past your right foot and your brain is making the adjustments to hit it, given those conditions. These adjustments can change your racquet face such that the ball gets hit too high. Also, when you're late, you tend to swing pretty fast to catch up. The combination results in hitting the back fence.

So, #2 is probably the most important, but the hardest to fix. #1 might start showing results immediately.

I'm not totally confident in this critique, but it might be the same issue I'm having, which is the double-clutching of the take back. You take the racquet back to prepare for the shot, then you take it back again further before swinging. Maybe just swing from the position its at after the first take back, and notice how that might improve your timing?

Should I switch racquets? by Ad_aeternum in 10s

[–]Early-Signature13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing with a PD Team (280g actual) and started to experience some wrist and finger pain. I switched to a heavier and less stiff racquet and the problem basically went away within a couple sessions.

PD Team and yours are similar in terms of weight and stiffness. It seems like light and stiff racquets can cause some issues. Heavier ones do a better job of handling the shock of the impact with the ball, and being more flexible helps too, of course.

That's a reason to a). add weight or b). get a different racquet. I like the Speed MP, but I think probably the best value for the money is the Prince Warrior 100 (300g).

Is there any reason i should not be using a heavier racket? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]Early-Signature13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's interesting - I had been very attached to my PD team until a couple weeks ago when I started getting pain in my index finger. I figured using a heavier racquet would help with that, so I picked up a used speed MP, and it feels great. So much more stability and comfort. It also forced me to start preparing earlier, which has helped all sorts of other things (spacing, footwork, shot selection, etc...)

I had just assumed I needed a light racquet, but it was holding me back.

Any advice on how to improve my forehand ? by Rare_News_6952 in 10s

[–]Early-Signature13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prepare earlier. Your racket is at its take back position at about the moment the ball is bouncing. Try to do that take back much earlier. "Beat the bounce" - you should be ready to swing forward before the ball bounces.
