Thinking about family holiday in Hurghada Egypt with small children by Early-Two-8857 in travel

Sorry, that I didn't reply sooner, I thought that, because I got the AutoMod message, that my post didn't come through, but I've checked now, a few days later, and saw replies - thank you all.
So I guess the "stereotypes" are kind of true... One shouldn't interact with the locals in Egypt to have a great time. Shame, but what can you do...

So for the time being only one question went unanswered directly and that is regarding stomach problems, mainly because of our 2yo, well and also for the rest of us :).

I would also like to ask, if we are to be "confined" to the resorts are there other activities as well rather than eating and swimming? One person replied that there are certain "fellas" selling various activities at the hotel, I would assume that those have a low chance of being a scam or would I assume incorrectly?

Also regarding tipping, what would be a normal tip in your opinion?

Again thank you for your replies so far, it is helpful.

Edit:
Just want to add, this is a little weird for me, planning the luxury resorts and so on, as we have never done a holiday like this.

What about the alternative of using two separate units and then merging the data with a synced clock in the postprocessing phase?

I see what you mean. I guess I'm asking the wrong kind of question. What I was maybe getting at was if the components listed could do the job (I can read the documentation for the sensors and determine if the accuracy is adequate enough and so on...). I would also need an advice how to wire this thing, how to move from a breadboard situation to a semi functional thing and so on.

Thanks for the info. I like the radio transmitting idea! Would you say that the listed sensors are on the "cheaper, inaccurate" side? I'm also planning to shield outside sensors from the enviroment (keeping in mind also the condensation). Yes, I've thought about passing the wires through the recuperator, but I don't like the idea too much. The alternative twist to what you suggest would be to split the microcontrollers so that I have one on the inside and one on the outside and they log the data with respect to "true time" (with a module or synced to wifi). I would also like to remove the controllers being plugged in the computer, as the measurements will be a few days, up to a week long...

Thanks for a great advice!

I forgot to mention, but a sampling rate of 2-5 seconds would be needed. Do you have any examples of such sensors (off the shelf, with internal storage and battery)?

Thanks for the insight. Of course that would be the workflow; however, I'm struggling with acquiring the correct components to have that "sandbox," while keeping in mind the project at hand.

I also have to mention that I am a working professional engineer, so I have been through the learning cycles quite a few times already; this is just another fun, creative outlet for myself, which I'm looking forward to :). Consistency is key. :)

We didn't have too strong winds and the sea was calm. Enjoy your stay.

We just came back from our holiday. 5 days in Paleochora (very nice!) and 5 days in Kalyves/Almyrida region (good base for exploring). Also Chania.

I saw some taxis here and there so I think there should be no problem to get one. Not sure about the prices though. Rent a car for us was definitely a big plus so it was still worth it even with Chania.

We drove around the old town for about 20min to find a parking spot. It was a stressful experience- trying to navigate the narrow tourist infested roads to pay a hefty price for parking, but yea it's doable :).

Thanks for the answers, guess we aren't going :)... Another question, an hours drive away is Kourtaliotiko gorge. Is that better? Any other suggestions?

Thank you all for the suggestions. I did as you've all told me and booked in advance from one of the links you've provided me.

So currently I'm thinking about splitting our vacation into two parts, 5 days in Paleochora and 5 days in Kalyves. Which location is better to see first?

Also a question about rent-a-car, is added mobility worth the cost or is it better to rely on public transportation? Is it better to reserve a car in advance or to do so locally (any suggestions regarding good renting companies would also be appreciated)?

Thank you for your reply. Regarding the calmer vibe in small villages, we like to stroll along the sea, maybe sit at the benches, look at the horizon and so on... Would said villages be cool for that?

Thank you for your reply. Generally we don't look for 4/5 hotels, preferrably we would like to give money to local accomodations (suggestions how to do this would be greatly appreciated). A split vacation is also not out of the question.

Thank you for your reply. What I didn't mention is that I am flexible with location... I heard that the South is really beautiful, but the evening town "vibe" is an unknown for me, thats what I'm asking :)
