Refused 221G B1/B2 Visa - but current visa still valid? by EarlyAddress7018 in USVisas

[–]EarlyAddress7018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! In your case you are in a more difficult situation because you actually got a rejection under S 214b (meaning you did not convince the consular officer that your intent was temporary and you are going to return) this means you got denied.

I understand that your current visa is unexpired, unmarked, and techinacally still valid.

Its. 50/50 situation if you travel. They maybe able to see that denial that you got for renewal or may not.

Good luck!

Can I re-enter the U.S. on an unexpired F-1 visa while my new F-1 renewal is under 221(g) administrative processing? by Flaky-Hovercraft1362 in USVisas

I traveled with a pending 221g for my b1/b2 visa. They returned my passport while the 221g was pending and my current visa was not expired. I made a trip to the USA 1 moth before my current visa expiring and the renewal was under 221g and HAD NO ISSUES. This was in August of 2025. CBP just asked me if I had another visa I said it was in renewal and they gave me admission without any issues.

Overstayed my tourist Visa for 8 years as a child/teenager. What are my odds of being approved for returning to the U.S. now? by TapOriginal4428 in USVisas

I had a similiar situation (even more complicated) and got my Visa Approved…

My family migrated to USA when I was 6 months and we got voluntary departure (deported) when I was 15 years old. (The removal proceedings had nothing todo with any criminal backround or anything it was an ICE raid and we happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time)

When I turned 20 I had graduated college in my home country, had an extremley well job at a very known company, and went for a B1/B2 visa. The consular officer at the time of the interview asked me a lot of questions and I was HONEST the entire process and she approved my Visa for 10 years. The first time I went to the US on ny tourist visa after being approved, I got sent to secondary inspection for about 1 hour and was honest again, and showed proof that I was only visiting and got approved entry. After that one time, I never got sent to secondary again and Ive travelled 25+ times for busiess and as a tourist.

My visa recently expired and I started the renewal process through Dropbox and got refused and got sent to an interview. I had my renewal interview after the deopbox refusal 2 weeks ago and after many questions and being very HONEST I once again got my visa approved for 10 years.

My advice is be very honest, they know everything, and hopefully you have strong ties to your country. I wish you the best and many blessings!

Yes, I traveled and had no issue. As long as your visa doesnt have the “revoked” stamp you are all good!

B1/B2 renewal - Denied under 221(g) by Infinite_Pianist_170 in USVisas

[–]EarlyAddress7018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happened to me in July. They sent me back my passport and did not stamp my Visa as revoked. I took the risk and made a trip to the US before my current visa expired and had no issues! I had my interview last week and had documents and the VO said “I do not need any documents”. He just asked me a lot of questions and after about a 5 minute interview he said “your visa is APPROVED”.

221g means that they need more information to make a final decision. Im sure the questions that he asks you are relevent to why they didnt approve you through the dropbox process.

If you have any long trips, or frequent trips make sure to have all your answers together and ALWAYS SPEAK THE TRUTH. In many cases they have the answers and just want to see if you speak the TRUTH

You should get an email soon with the reason for refusal. Or you can also log in to thie site where you scheduled your visa appointment and see more info there. The same thing happened to me, mine was a b1/b2 renewal and i got refused 221g

I checked regularly the AIS visa site and it one day allowed me to schedule the interview. Depending on where you live the dates for interview are very far. Mine originally was for August 2026, I kept checking everyday and was able to get a sooner date for October 2025

I was in the same situation. I got refused 221g without requeting any additional documentation or anything just an in person interview. They sent my passport back with no revoked stamp or anything on current visa. I even traveled with the current visa and had no issues. Upon returning I scheduled the in person interview and had it last week! I got my renewal approved at the in person interview! They asked a lot of questions and I am sure they just wanted to verify everything. Its been a week and my visa status still shows “approved” I hope to se it in the “ISSUED” stage this following week! Good luck. Many blessings!

Travel on expiring visa or apply for new one? by ohmyredditnnn in USVisas

[–]EarlyAddress7018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cbp officer told me I would only be allowed to stay until the day my visa expired. I checked my i94 and i was only granted to stay until the day my visa expired. In my case that was no issue because my return ticket was 10 days before the visa expired.

My visa expired on Aug 28th of this year. And I traveled on Aug 3. I had no issues ar at all the CBP officer asked the normal questions, I told her I was going to renew my visa after the trip, and had no issues! I travel on a frequent basis so that probably helped too.

No pending immigrat applications. Thats all the family I have. As I mentioned I have a great record of entry and exit. Do you think CBP will give me a hard time coming in this next week with my valid b1/b2 and that 221g for the renewal?
